First of all, why don't you tell me what wars we lost. Having spent considerable time in the service, I'd like to know what I missed. The American military has NEVER lost a war. Period. Only weakness I've ever seen in this country is some of the politicians.
Late note for nicki: The world admired us when Clinton was in office? That is one of the most naive statements I ever heard. The rest of the world LAUGHED at us when Clinton was getting sucked on.

Hmmm.
The Balkans: Muslims freed from ethnic cleansing campaign and Serbian despots arrested. NATO victory.
1991 Gulf War: Iraqi forces repelled in 100 days. American/Allied victory.
Vietnam: USSR and China served notice that where an attempt to spread communism is made, American forces will counter decisively. USSR collapses within 15 years, China is essentially a capitalist economy within 25 years.
You take the most pessimistic view you can find, and apply it as fact. The truth remains that the US shows the world, consistently, that we will not suffer the dictatorial fools of the world while people go hungry, sick or dead. Not in Iraq, not in Iran, not in N. Korea and certainly not in Africa or South America.
Other nations will always hate us, regardless of what we do. They may like us if we're weak, but that only opens up opportunity for other nations to dominate us economically, militarily or both.
I believe in the American way of life. I believe it is worth defending and proliferating. I don't care if the rest of the world is driven to hate us by leaders who are envious or threatened. The truth remains that America is home to 300 million people who would NEVER live anywhere else, and that more people seek to emigrate to the U.S. than any other nation.
Don't believe the hate, don't believe the HYPE. The wars we fight we do so to state the American position, that unabated tyranny and the silence of the voice of freedom will not be tolerated. Period.

You must be referring to the War of 1812 and the Vietnam War. We won the Iraq War. We defeated the Saddam Hussein regime quickly and easily. We are now in an occupation of Iraq. You can neither win or lose and occupation. You simply occupy the country until you leave.

Are you referring to Korea and Vietnam? If so we have won the Cold War against one of the largest and most powerful enemies we ever could have faced since then. No if we fail in Iraq you may have a point since what happens there has a ripple effect with other Middle East countries. Just look at Libya and how they reacted when we overthrew Saddam.

Yes, by Clinton not responding as the commander in chief when a ship was attacked, when an embassy was leveled....yeah, that is weak. By waging a war we looked strong for a while. When the military was asked to rebuild Iraq (a STATE DEPT task, not military) we began to look weak again.

what the heck do you mean we have lost the last two wars???? We have not lost the war we just are taking our time at finishing them. What we should have done is bombed the heck out of them and shown them that we meant business. We should have never sent troops over there.

.......excuse me??? the last two wars which are you referring to?
regardless many nations dont like us because they view us as quote "war mongers" that seems to be the overall insult they use. war mongers may seem evil but not weak.
we have not lost iraq, some say we are winning others losing but it is not over yet. we are trying to establish a government with a strong military so it can stand on its own with out american support.

It sure does and that is crying shame, we use to be the strongest nation in the world. But you take all our troops and maim them, kill them and sure don't have much strenght Bush has taken all of America and made it look weak. no one likes us in any country, when Bill Clinton was in office all the other countries admired us and they were all our friends.
We don't have one country that would turn a finger to help us, that is what the Bush Admin has turned American into , a hated weak country. Mark my world one day we are going to be hit and America will be no more, just because a complete idiot threw away America.

I suppose declaring one's own defeat prematurely when you're actually winning would make you look weak.
If we do lose this war, it's because of the activists who think they are supporting troops (like my cousin) by agitating against their efforts. It cripples their morale to hear all the Sheehan's of the U.S. "Support our troops, bring them home" does not make them feel any better.
