My boyfriend is thinking about joining and I need to know what our life will be like. We've been together for 6 years and have a child. The only reason we haven't gotten married is because the timing hasn't been right. Either I'm in school or he is, or some other major thing. We are talking about getting married after he gets out of BT. Anyway, he would like to be stationed in Texas if at all possible. I would like to know what housing is like, how the Navy is, just everything. I have no idea where to start. Thanks!

Why is it that the only plausible answer for "Gulf War Syndrome" is the antigen squalene, yet our government adamantly denies there is any connection between the two?

Veterans who never left the states during the Gulf War between 90 and 91 experience the same effects as veterans who did deploy. It is said that the antigen squalene was used in some lots of the Anthrax vaccine but the military and government officials deny this.

Anyone have any insight on this?

The American public hears about the ONE or TWO bombs that go off a day, but never about any of the accomplishments made by American and NATO forces. Dont get me wrong, one bomb against our troops is one bomb too many; but its WAR, one bomb a day is absolutely nothing compared to past American wars. But the media turns one or two bombs a day into that the US is loosing the war.

The US went in, took out Saddams military, took out Saddam, got major Al-Queda forces out of Iraq, recovered sarin and mustard gas from Iraqi fortifications, put in a democratic government, and gave the government a fighting force. If that is not victory, then what the Hell is?

I am at an age where my brothers, male cosuins and ex-husband are all Vietnam Vets. I also know many men who are baby boomers who fought in Vietnam who are now going through Battlefield Flashbacks! I myself have flashbacks of another sorts when the evening news gives us the dead count. Many privileged young men found a way to stay out of Vietnam like pres. Bush did. It is a shame that thse same men are finding it necessary to send our young Americans to be killed and maimed in Iraq.
I think it would be interesting to survey Vietnam veterans to see how many of them think we should be sending our youth off to be in Iraq?

After Basic Combat Training, do you get any of your "privacies" back? Such as private bathrooms or private rooms? Are you still required to wake up at like 4 in the morning? Just trying to see what the Army Reserves are like immediately after BCT.

Thanks!

I recently re submitted my job choices for the air force, because I'm getting a change in date to leave for bmt. The MSGT that I am working with to get this done (my recruiters supervisor) told me that the jobs I picked were really hard to get into, as was the general area that I picked? What are the easier jobs to get into in the air force with the exception of security forces? the jobs I picked are 2G0X1-LOGISTICS PLANS; 6F0X1-FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT AND COMPTROLLER; 1N0X1-INTELLIGENCE APPLICATIONS; 1C1X1 - AIR TRAFFIC CONTROL ;1N1X1-IMAGERY ANALYSIS ;A3X1-AIRBORNE COMMUNICATIONS SYSTEMS; 1C6X1-SPACE SYSTEMS OPERATIONS. How hard r these to get, what job
1N4X1 - NETWORK INTELLIGENCE ANALYSIS
1A5X1 - AIRBORNE MISSIONS SYSTEMS
If none of these options are available my aptitude area choice is guaranteed General aptitude area 9TG5. Are these really that hard to get? what jobs besides security forces are easier?

According to Donald Rumsfield, the failure to support illegal, immoral and unnecessary wars defines one as a terrorist. Let me be clear about where I stand: I know who the real terrorists are, and can name each one of them... Bush among the rest.

Everywhere you go in America you see the slogan, “Support our troops.” You see it on bumper stickers, flags and banners, yellow ribbons . But what does it mean to support our troops? Is it to send them into harm’s way; to invade and occupy sovereign nations in illegal wars for empire? Is it to ask them to commit heinous crimes, to insult, and to humiliate people who have done us no harm? Is it to steal the natural wealth & resources that belongs to other nations and turn it over to American corporations?

If that is what it means, then I cannot support our troops. I cannot wish them well if their purpose is to conquer other people, and plunder the wealth of other countries that have done us no harm. That would require me to endorse crimes against humanity conducted under the guise of national security and patriotism. I cannot do that...I will not. It is simply wrong.

Neither should we confuse supporting our troops with supporting the President, or wrongful and immoral policies of corrupt government. The president and his ilk do not support our troops or he would not use them as pawns; he would take care of them when they come home broken and torn with psychic scars. He does not care about them...they are only a means to an end.

The best way to support our troops is to take a principled stand; to hold the moral high ground to bring them home alive and whole. A government must not be allowed to require any of its citizens to engage in immoral or criminal behavior on its behalf. When a government behaves like a crime syndicate it does not mean that the people should follow its example. They must provide a better alternative, and refuse their allegiance to it.

So if the failure to support a government’s wrongful policies makes me a terrorist so be it. If speaking truth to power makes one a terrorist sign me up! If exposing the lies and corruption makes me a terrorist... I will proudly wear the crown and bear the cost.
