India is emerging as an economic power house in the world along with other developing nations. There is the acronym BRIC which refers to Brazil, Russia, India, and China as the new economic powerhouses in the world.
If the person who asked the question referred to as "Superpower" as meaning military power, India has made significant upgrades in their military and have recently signed a nuclear deal with the US. Thus, they will be one of the "Superpowers'" of the world.
