I don't know about OCS because I opted not to be an officer. AIT is more leniant depending on which post you're at. I went to FT. Jackson and we got phones back after about four weeks. Every night we were able to make phone calls during our free time. There were smaller rooms. Some had 2 people in it, some had up to nine. We were assigned our cleaning duties by our classes. We also had to clean up at school. Every weekend we had a weekend pass that would allow us to go out for both days. They started off with battalion up to overnight. You have to earn it, though. You can always get set back. We had fireguard duty that was two hours long. We woke up at five in the morning, had to be outside by 0515 and then go to PT at 0600. Chow after that and School at about 0900 until 1600. There were several bathrooms along the hallways. Better than one to a whole bay. It is more easy going but you are required to do a lot better and know more since you have already been through basic. All this is different if you go OCS right after basic. I hear it is more rigorous than BCT. Good Luck

You can earn your privileges back with hard work and training! During AIT training you normally share a room with normally 1 to 8 people. It is more room than you get during BCT. Where you share a room with 60 or more people. Luckily in the Reserves after training in the Reserves you can go home and live at home, except for when you are called for duty! It really depends on when you go on how many people you have to share a room with. If you go in the summer it is going to be crowed and if you go in the winter it will not be crowed at all. If you want more room to your self and less people to compete with go during the winter!

The only significant difference between OCS and BCT is that in OCS you get positions of responsibility more often. You still eat the same food, you still get psychological conditioning (in other words you get yelled at a lot), you still get up in the morning and run, and you still live in a barracks.
You get some semblance of privacy when you aren't in training, or you're a commissioned officer.

Most AIT's are 8 weeks or less. You generally have the 1st couple weekends restricted, but after that will be free on the weekends. Most first formations, for PT, are later (but not by alot) than BCT. Regardless, don't base an entire career decision on having to wake up earlier for a few extra weeks. As for bathrooms (start calling them "Latrines"), it depends on the base/post & the MOS/School you go to. After you graduate you will likely have a roommate, but it's not at all like you see on TV, with large rooms full of soldiers.

I went through Army OCS 30 years ago and it has changed since my time there. If you want current information from recent graduates you can go to the following website and ask your questions. They have a forum for people want to know about OCS and they are very good about getting back to you quickly. As for AIT...sorry, I went from BCT to OCS and then my 1st assignment as an artillery officer. If you go to OCS...just keep a positive attitude and good luck.

sure you could keep on with now. besides the undeniable fact that the approach takes about 6 months. in case you enlisted and then utilized, sure you'll might want to pay back any enlistment bonus's. No there aren't any bonus's for officer accessions some situations there is pupil personal loan compensation, some situations no longer. yet in case you agree for pupil personal loan compensation, you supply up the GI bill.
