A few years ago i broke my leg and it required surgery. I needed to get a metal rod and a four screws put into my leg in order to help it heal. To this day i still have the rod and screws in my leg. I was wondering if this injury and surgery would prevent me from meeting the guidelines to join the military? Would i be accepted into the military under "draft" standards? or no matter what the circumstances i wouldnt be accepted because of my injury?

There must be some practical reason it's taking so long to train an Iraqi army. Iraq had a large army that was disbanded. It consisted of hundreds of thousands of trained soldiers. Why can't these ex-soldiers be enticed to join a new Iraqi army and be readied for duty in a short period? This is not a rhetorical question, so please don't take this as an opportunity to sound off about what a fool Bush is or what traitors the Dems are. If you truly understand military matters could you explain this, please?

The fact is those flying pigs are so vulnerable to anti air missiles and have 0% survival rate against jet aircraft that they serve no military purpose but to pound on defenseless civilians.

I know that I should probably know the answer for this, but I don't. Where are all the billions of dollars for this war coming from? Is it just from our tax dollars, or does it come from somewhere else?

What is CPO, I know it has to do with the military, I think? I have a tea set that was sent over to the USA during WWII. It has a diamond stamp with CPO in the middle. It belonged to an 82 yr. old woman and she said that her then fianc'e sent it from Japan. He was in the Army.

I chastised my 15 yr. old son for wearing a shirt with the Confederate battle flag on it.

We live in the south and I would like to hear the opinion of others that live in the south.

He said it represents the south. I educated him a little about that flag. I asked him if he thought it would be alright for a neighbor to fly the Nazi flag. He indicated that would be wrong. I told him they are the same flags. They are both flags flown by enemies of the US. Just one enemy was in Europe and the other was inside the US. The Confederate flag did not represent the US it represented a militia in the southern US. I also told him that the southern militias flew and faught under many flags that was only one of them.

Was I wrong?

This current generation has been labled the "Entitlement Generation" (NOT by me, but UCONN) and are used to instant gratification, participation trophies and money being thrown at them in lieu of time with their family. Discipline was a "stern talk", a "time-out" or just didn't exist because they didn't want to bruise the creativity or self-esteeme.

I was raised in a "leather thru loops" environment, I learned quickly and did not turn out to be a wacko from "abuse"; I deserved what I got.

How do you suppose this also relates to our diplomatic policies? Look at Japan, Germany, Panama and Cuba to name a few. THEY GOT THE BELT and have been good since. N. Korea and China are entering puberty and "time-outs" just don't seem to be getting their attention. The same with the Middle East. I think that Iraq, Iran and a few others are "ENTITLED" and throwing fits to get their way. We threw money at them and it didn't work, so perhaps a trip behind the woodshed in in order?

everyone knows that women were made to stay in the kitchen and to cook and clean. the man makes all of the money because he has the brains and skill to do so. now that the women leave the house to try in vain to be equal to men, they leave their children in a day care center, and then later use a television for a baby setter. so no one raises the children except the streets. also, women don't make an effort to keep their men and get divorces even when their men have multiple girlfriends. men are supposed to have as many women as they can take care of. the women need to stay home and raise the little brats before they grow up and shoot people! what do you think?

I mean do they actually have a strategy to WIN the war in Iraq. Cut & run sounds like a strategy for losers to me. How are going to leave Iraq with a civil war? Poor iraqi civilizans, the insurgents are probably going to kill them!
And NO, Iraq has not the enough military to win a war like this.
