A few years ago i broke my leg and it required surgery. I needed to get a metal rod and a four screws put into my leg in order to help it heal. To this day i still have the rod and screws in my leg. I was wondering if this injury and surgery would prevent me from meeting the guidelines to join the military? Would i be accepted into the military under "draft" standards? or no matter what the circumstances i wouldnt be accepted because of my injury?

Good question . I would think that if you have sufficiently healed then I would think you could go . I doubt that issues like asthma would even keep you out .

If you want to enlist, this is something you should talk about with a recruiter.

Generally speaking, it is not a bar to enlistment as long as the leg does not keep you from meeting physical fitness standards or performing your duties, to include in the field, to standard.

However, joining will require you to get a medical waiver. You would need to have your full medical history / records and will most likely also draw a consult at MEPS to go see a doctor and have an exam and X-rays done. If the doctor says you're good to go, they will then process the waiver.

You will not be accepted into any of the Armed Forces with screws in your legs. You can compete in the Winter Olympics like the Maher brothers did but you cannot join the Services. Also you cannot if you ever had an ulcer. The Air force will not let you in if you have glasses that are more than 10 diopter thick.

As of as we talk, the military makes use of military regulation 40-501 for all accession physicals on the military the front Processing Station (MEPS) in spite of what branch they're getting a member of. the important reason that regulation is used is because even as MEPS is utilized by potential of all branches, the final responsibility of MEPCOM falls below the Secretary of the military. even as all men ought to sign up for the Selective provider even as they turn 18, registration doesn't equivalent being drafted. If a draft change into reinstated men chosen might want to be screened for clinical issues and as of as we talk autism and asperger's disqualifies you. about 2 years in the past i tried to get a waiver for a baby who change into clinically determined with asperger's even as youthful and grew out of it, he change into denied. once you're scared you're (or your boyfriend/brother/different significant male to you) going to be drafted this isn't any longer going to take position. the military is unquestionably downsizing and human beings who easily pick to enlist are being grew to change into away. With that, there is no way they're going to commence a draft on the prompt. in spite of in the adventure that they do a draft is in uncomplicated words made to construct the military to a pre-set end potential. they don't draft each guy interior the country because we do not choose over one hundred million human beings interior the military rapidly.

They may not draft you, but if you request, you can get a waiver and join as a volunteer. They have amputees in the military so a rod is no big deal.

Talk to a recruiter. The Army has what is called a Profile. It would excuse you from running and P.T. and all that stuff. You could get a job as a clerk somewhere and that would free up a physically fit person.

There are still duties that you could do. Of course Rush got deferred for a butt cyst and I know that Chaney got deferred too, but I forget why. Of course the military is pretty much except anyone right now...they have even tried to get an autistic person to join!

I am afraid not but I admire your courage. There a couple million young men, mostly white, who worry that the draft will happen and they will be outted as cowards.

You will be drafted to do the will of the one who has greater authority than the one who will draft you.
