Yes, If we leave Iraq prematurely there will be no one there to control the violence that many experts believe will spread accross the middle east. Also, this will embolden many sworn enemies of the U.S. to seek territorial gains. (Syria, Iran, Hezbollah, Hamas, North Korea, and possibly China could move on Taiwan or Russia on some of its former states) These enemies would gamble on (and likely be right about) the weakness of a democratic administration and their dependance upon sanctions (which rarely if ever work) instead of military action in the wake of the Iraq conflict.

I believe the conflict will develop into WW III if we allow the Islamofascists to prevail. We have already sit back and allowed Iran to gain a stronghold in the Middle East.
If we sit back and allow Iraq to become another radical stronghold we will be involved in a much larger conflict.
I realize some politicians would like to run home as we did in Vietnam. It may play well for short term political gain, but we will pay the price with a much bigger war with a much more powerful enemy.

That could be the best result. Perhaps that would pull the West together to finally get rid of all the tyrannical governments in the Middle East.

When Iran or N. Korea or China unleashes a WMD, then the US will go to all-out war and annhialate them. That's how WWIII will go down.
