If you had a choice of a couple of years in the army or 6 months in prison which would you take?

I'm looking at 6 months in prison but would definitely sign up for the army instead of prison but I can't with my record.

People say that people who have been in trouble should do national service but the fact is they don't let you.

Do you think the battle of Midway sort of turned the tide in WWII? I am not sure, but I can't think of a bigger or more successful naval battle.

Back in the cold war, it was between Russia and the US. Less than a decade ago, it was India or Pakistan, but today, it could be Iran, North Korea, or others. A friend who does special security contracts in Iraq says that Israel will likely launch first at Iran after initial strikes on weapons facilities. But who knows for sure.

We will have to fight them on the streets of America?

Americans are supportive of our allie's troops, as they give their lives for the cause of the moment the same as our troops do. Yet over and over I see the British trashing our troops, and this included the British military. They say our troops are arrogant and in the same breath call themselves the best. American troops treat Coalition troops like brothers both to their face and behind the backs. Don't they teach loyalty and honor in the U.K.?

that is provided to me by the troops fighting on the ground in Iraq.

Ironic isnt it?

Well it would be, if I truly believed that the Iraqis were a threat to the US both before and after 9/11 (not that Iraq had anything to do with 9/11 but try convincing an american that).

Still I guess Iraq who maybe had WMD's was always a greater threat than North Korea who have proven they have WMD's.

Still if youre the schoolground bully, you hardly want to be taking on the biggest kid in the class, when there is the weedy little guy in the corner who called your Dad names you can pick on (lovely little anology for George Bush, Bush Snr and Hussain there)

What non-military careers are avaliable in SAR throughout the UK? There is voluntary work (eg, RNLI) or military institutions (eg, RAF helicopters). Are there no civilian equivalents?

I always thought the SAR helicopters were their own organisation, not affiliated to the Navy/ RAF...have I been proved wrong?

Thanks!

I know it is the term for a Marine E-7 NCO, but WHO uses it? Is it a term used by the enlisted as a title (Yes SIr, Gunny!) or is it a term only the Officers are allowed to use in reference (Gunny! Get so-and-so in my office! NOW!)????
I'm trying to write a story in which two former Marines, one's a former Sergeant of the Sniper/Scouts of Recon, and the other is his former commanding NCO, a "Gunny", are great friends, out of active/Reserve service with the Corps., but still have the "Gunny" and "Sarge" thing going...
Help?
I knew a couple of Marines a while back, but one is now a Medal of Honor resident of Arlington Cemetary, and the other is paralyzed and can't talk thanks to a insurgent's bullet in the vocal chords. I wanna get the details right so I can make these guys proud.
