I'll give you some very valid points:

1) PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder). This is that little thing some soldiers get after serving in combat... the one that messes em up big time. Women currently (whilst not serving as combat infantry) suffer PTSD at twice the rate of men (who do serve combat infantry). That number could only increase if women were put into the front lines.

2) POW Camps are notoriously bad about treating their prisoners. If women were captured it would be VERY unpretty for them. VERY.

3) Good order and discipline, while needed in the back camp, are the most essential qualities of front line troops. An inferior unit with good order and discipline can frag their enemy if they lack cohesion. One reason to not have women with combat troops has nothing to do with women at all, but rather the competitive nature of men and therefore the conflict that could arise in the presence of women which could therefore shatter the good order of the unit at a critical time. Can it be overcome? Yes, but is it worth the risk?

4) As has been said, the army has a policy of leave no troop behind. I weigh 167 pounds (which is fairly light for a guy) but I still doubt most women could fireman carry/drag me for half a mile. That's not to say there aren't women who can or that women don't have their strengths... but thousands of years of evolution as hunter/gatherer and domestic societies have tailored men ON AVERAGE more towards combat actions. Is that going to change as women expand to fill more roles? Yes. But evolutionary traits are not undone in a single generation of women's rights.

My husband is in the Air Force and we have these discussions all the time. I think that women should be able to do anything a man can do. I did some research and went to recruiters to see if I could do something I wanted in each branch. I was told no as a Navy Seal they passed a law so women can't join. Army Rangers I was told no there too. Marine Spec Ops again it was a no go. Then I tried to be a Naval Aviator and women aren't allowed to fly combat jets just cargo planes and such. It has been my observation that men do not think clearly around women. There are women in combat but the military rarely puts them on the front lines for these reasons. They feel that there will be too many sexual harassment or rape cases, a mission will be compromised because in the man's mind he is programmed to protect the woman and could get him side tracked, then there is the issue of a woman getting pregnant and doing harm to herself or her child. Some men have a testosterone thing and think that battle is no place for a woman, to them I say screw you. I believe if a woman can meet the same requirements without gender norming ( a different set of standards usually lowered to a man) they should be able to do the same thing. If men can't hang the military needs to make men take classes on working with women and avoiding conflicts. There are some women who take their military career seriously and a few who make it through boot camp then have men do their work for them (I have seen it) for that I blame the women in the military for making us look bad. As far as your question your teacher seems to be a woman hater or a sexist pig. Women that measure up should be combat soldiers, hell even other countries use women because the enemy does not expect to get shot by a woman. Some people think women are too emotional and could not handle the stress I tell them that is wrong and women can multi task better than men in most cases. In your report list three reasons why people think they shouldn't then make a case why they should. Guaranteed A

Here is a good test for a woman who wants to be in Ranger School: Have the woman show up at the Ranger PT field dressed for PT. When the woman shows up, point to the Army Ranger instructor and say "Take him down and you'll get a spot in the school." I don't believe there is a single woman in the entire U.S. military that can take down the instructor. Women are not good at hand to hand combat, never have been, never will be. They would be the weak link on the team. That is reality.

Women can be a combat soldier too is they want to. But, in some countries, only men are compulsary to serve their National Service such as the Army, Civil Defence and Police. This is traditionally Asian values that the men should go and protect the country, and women to look after the family.

I don't think women realize allot of what goes on in war. War isn't a game and a place for feminist activists who want to prove themselves equal to men.

Not to be sexist but women are not as strong as men. There maybe a case where she will have to leave a male soldier behind because she couldn't carry him.

Sexual abuse another issue for women. Don't think the enemy follows the rules when for POW. You will be raped.... I know that sounds bad but that's what happens.

I personally don't have a problem with them working behind the lines of fire(like artillery) but to be on the front line I don't prefer them on the front line. I need someone with physical strength. That can hack it and keep up without falling behind.

Don't get me wrong I support women rights but somethings are better left for men to do....

I had a recruiter tell me once that the reason women are not allowed into combat arms jobs is for sanitary and hygienic purposes. It's not sanitary to be in the field, unable to bathe for a week or more, when you're on your period. My husband has gone for 30 days without being able to shower before when he was in Iraq, and they don't want women to be put in that position, for their own health.

1 reason i was told by an army colonel when i asked is that woman are naturally less strong than men in most cases (without being sexist in any way) so when a soldier is hit and wounded he can be carried by a fellow soldier which some woman may not be able to physically do

I feel women should have all the rights and guarantees provided them under the US constitution.

Right to protect their country and way of life.

Right to die doing so.

But, make them exactly equal to the men, they would not want anything less. No special treatment.

While in the Marines we would go to the field for 2-3 weeks at a time taking a bath from a canteen, every two days the women would be taken to the rear for showers due to hygiene. It was very detrimental to the unit. If you want to live like a man, smell like one too.

why women should not be used as combat soldiers!
1 They distract men from doing there job.
2 The USS Cole Bombing ( Security was distracted by looking at the women on the ship)
3 Distractions in War will get people killed

1. They could be pregnant.
2. War is ugly and society is squeamish about women getting killed.
3. Female soldiers are much more likely to be abused sexually in a POW situation.

Note, I don't buy into these reasons. If you meet the physical qualifications, go shoot and loot for Uncle Sam.
