which nation is likely to launch a nuclear strike first?

Back in the cold war, it was between Russia and the US. Less than a decade ago, it was India or Pakistan, but today, it could be Iran, North Korea, or others. A friend who does special security contracts in Iraq says that Israel will likely launch first at Iran after initial strikes on weapons facilities. But who knows for sure.

Technology is now such that there is no need to worry about a missile launch. Especially in all the regions you have just discussed, as there are allready anti-missle defense in place..

As for whoever said the US would..hogwash. We would threaten it, but our conventional weapons are much more devestating than a strategic nuke. The only thing nukes do for us is old school deterance(.) Also, LOAC would mean that we would have to consider the principle of proportionality and the effects of civilian collateral damage, and nukes would negate that use.

Iran doesn't have nuclear weapons. Scott Ritter has been there and inspected their plants, as have the UN inspectors. Both Ritter and the inspectors were right about Iraq. What sort of clueless dimwit is going to believe Chicken George Bu**sh** this time? The only "weapons of mass destruction" found in Iraq were those used by the US military in Fallujjah and other places.

The US government would nuke Iran to prevent other countries from getting the oil and driving up the price for their corporate oil company friends, and Israel would do it because they don't see arab people as human beings.

Don't forget, the gulf stream goes west to east, so any nuclear fallout from a nuclear war crime commited against Iraq or Iran would land on only non-christian and non-jewish countries: Iraq, Iran, Pakistan, Afghanistan, India, western China, etc. but would not likely reach any further east. Both Israel and the US have no humanity - oops, concern - for any of those people.

Also, the US military has been knowingly using depleted uranium on its conventional weapons. The remnants of bullets and bombs coated with despeted uranium cause long term health effects like cancer and birth defects. The US has already nuked Iraqis and Afghans by using bullets; only ignorant or lying people say otherwise.

Add in the tortures, murders and various war crimes the US has perpetrated in the last five years, it's clear the US government sees these people as expendable and subhuman, not worthy of human rights. The callousness they display in killing over 500,000 Iraqis proves it.

Unfortunately, America has been completely taken over by some pretty scary people. The "American" government has been completely bought and paid for. They are completely throwing out The Constitution, making treasonous deals with other nations... The welfare and wishes of the people are blatantly being ignored as well as the welfare of the nation itself. The new owners are simply sacrificing the USA, it's economy and it's people by using it as a tool in their quest for financial world domination.

More American infrastructure is being handed out to foreign and global powers by the day. More fascist police state laws are being passed by the day. Today I even heard talk about a new law that will prohibit political free speech on the internet. Yahoo has just happened to discontinue their convenient message boards for the discussion of news stories. The "news" (propaganda) is such obvious rubbish, it can no longer hold up to public discussion. It also became too obvious tha almost nobody agrees with the direction this country (supposedly governed by the people) is going in. We are in BIG trouble!!!

Sad truth is... There's been talk of Isral or the USA using "small" nukes in an attack on Iran. Usually when you see things like this in the media, you're just being conditioned and desensitized to accept what's to come.

I think you'll see the worlds next nuclear strike very soon launched by Israel or the USA (same owners). God help us all...


EDIT: And MC Hummer has a very good point that the US government is in the process of slowly nuking a few countries with depleted uranium at this very moment. Notice the complete lack of concern for the soldiers actually risking their lives for the wealth of the sicko, Satanic criminals who've taken over the country. I suspect that Iran will supply a nuclear weapon to the Terrorists Organization known as Hezbollah (The Islamic Jihad) based in Lebanon. The weapon will be obtained either from North Korea, China or Russia.
Hezbollah already has the infrastructure in the US, Canada and Mexico, that could easily deliver such a weapon into Our Country due to our Unsecured Borders.

I don't think it'll be N. Korea. That guy's a nut job but he's also a chicken ****. Israel knows better, so does India. The US is up on the list but I boubt that too.
I'm going to have to go with religious fundementalists on this one. It doesn't really matter where or who, but in my opinion, the risk does lie mostly within the middle eastern areas.

No one knows that Iran is developing nuclear weapons, and I don't think they'd strike first. I would go with North Korea, Kim Jung is a crazy mofo, I wouldn't put it past him to launch a pre-emptive strike.
