What is our War about?

I don't mean this to be a partisan question. I've just been hearing a lot of jockeying between Bush and Congress about deploying troops. I've read the Constitution and know that only Congress can "declare war," but I didn't see anything addressing a president's rights regarding troop deployment.

Thanks.

trouble fighting & beating insurgencies? I mean they've got a decades worth of material from the Vietnam war. Shouldn't insurgencies be a US military speciality?

Many times I have read the Iraqi insurgents have used American provided vehicles and weapons to kill Americans. I have seen on television where our soldiers have found our stolen weapons hidden and buried, and where they are being sold in the market place. Does Iraq need to get it's politics in order before we provide them more weapons & vehicles to use to kill our soldiers as well as each other? Maliki has asked for more weapons from the US, and Bush has a budget request in for this.

I have seen the 07' scale. My husband will start off at E-3. My question is.. this amount, is this total for the month, or is this each pay (twice a month that the military pays you)? I have a booklet and everything I can look thru, but heck I dont understand it.

And also, what is taxed and what isnt? I understand that meal ect isnt taxed, but is the housing allowance taxed? And is this already included into the pay scale, or is it an addition to this pay?

Also, he's Army Nat'l Guard, and we havent yet seen a check, he just got sworn in Tues. and we're trying to figure out bills, ect, for when he's gone....
Thank you for attemtping to help make this clearer to me...!

I am looking to talk either for free or for cheaper to my husband that is in Iraq. I have used the Yahoo phone to talk to my husband and it lags so much that we never use it or when we do, we have to wait 10-15 seconds before we can hear one another. My question is....does Skype lag? Is it a good way to communicate with someone in Iraq? We want to be able to hear each other's voices.

Firstly I say 'used to' only because I have not heard of it happening recently although I will happily retract this statement.

I have read a lot of literature about the Naval forces of the world during WW1/2 (both miltary and merchant) and am startled by the unmber of Captains who chose to stay on board a doomed ship, and I was wondering why?

Is it because they felt linked to their vessel, and as such their failure to get the ship safely to port meant they were no longer fit to command (and therefore live)?

Did they only do this when there will still crew/ passengers left on board who couldn't be rescued (If they don't go, neither do I,'), or did it still happen was everyone else was either dead or rescued?

I am intrigued as I find this behaviour very brave and herois, although somewhat pointless- what's the point in losing one more man who could be saved, or of staying with what is, essentially, merely a big (albeit well crafted) lump of steel on it's way to the bottom?

How can you not have a plan if the troop surge doesn't work? Isn't this just like the Bush Admin to start a battle with no plan of afterthought?

In other words, isn't it the Army Combat Engineers who go in first to secure the battlefield, clear mines, cut Landing zones, etc., etc.?

My husband just got extended in Afghanistan, but he's not getting the extra pay that was promised him if he were to be there longer then the 12 month tour. It's a slap in the face that he was due home in only a week, and then pulled right away from me for 5 more months, but then, to not give him the extra pay, it's like putting salt in an all ready infected wound.
How do I go about making the public aware of this, and getting what those boys deserve?
their morale is low enough with being so close to coming home, and having that taken away.
I could understand MONTHS ago pulling a stunt like extending them, but not when a lot of our soldiers have made it home to their families, relieved it's over, only to have to turn right back around.
it's WRONG. and shady.
is there a forum of some sort where Americans could write in letters to their congress for support?

The US will trained 100,000 incubated cloned and trained K-9s and send them to Afghanistan and explore those caves deeply with their cameras and lights atatched to their foreheads they will have batteries. They know scent of something. Body armor them against sharapnel and what not of course K-9 patrol send them to Korea too keep troops there though of course. or maybe not since it is a presence of US .

BREED THE K-9s. GOOD FOR PATROLS.
think of the other possible outcomes of the battles of Okinawaw JPY 1945 and D-Day 1944 and Bay of Pigs if we wouldve had dogs on those beaches to help out the men and women of the those wars? we wouldnt have to drop the two atomic bombs and therefore we wouldve got Castro out of power long time ago and used Cuba as a NASA Ground and Beach. Just by utulizing the extent and power of trained animals willing to die for their masters that Cloned them by multitude, incubated them, developed/trained them, These are animal targets not humans..............

My 1st Sgt. asked our platoon to find out what the individual colors in the windows of the castle mean. I always thought that they were blacked out. I have never seen one with differant colors! Does anyone know? Not even the other NCO's in our unit can figure this one out!
