Many times I have read the Iraqi insurgents have used American provided vehicles and weapons to kill Americans. I have seen on television where our soldiers have found our stolen weapons hidden and buried, and where they are being sold in the market place. Does Iraq need to get it's politics in order before we provide them more weapons & vehicles to use to kill our soldiers as well as each other? Maliki has asked for more weapons from the US, and Bush has a budget request in for this.

Al-Maliki has already asked for more weapons but President Bush has rightfully refused. We gave him $18 million dollars for weapons about two years ago. The Mahdi Army came back with brand new AK's.

I'm not sure where they are getting the weapons. I know they have stolen some of our SUV's that we use and they have dressed in ACU's. The attack in Karbala last week was an example of that.

In the past, such tactics would have been condemned by the UN.

Notice the silence?

There have been many rumors of this but very few confirmed instances.

There have been vehicles owned by the Iraqi government that were stolen and used in attacks. However thinking that the enemy needs to steal AKs from the government when they can simply buy them off the street is ludicrous.

You are aware that Iraqi law allows one AK-47 per household?

Though some of the weapons we give to the Iraqis the vast majority of the violence is with weapons/IEDs from Iran and Syria.
The problem is that we have no way of knowing for sure who among the Iraqis is part of the insurgency and who is fighting it.

From what I've heard, it was the Iranians providing weapons and vehicles. I may be wrong though. If you have a link to this information, I'd like to see it.
