My husband just got extended in Afghanistan, but he's not getting the extra pay that was promised him if he were to be there longer then the 12 month tour. It's a slap in the face that he was due home in only a week, and then pulled right away from me for 5 more months, but then, to not give him the extra pay, it's like putting salt in an all ready infected wound.
How do I go about making the public aware of this, and getting what those boys deserve?
their morale is low enough with being so close to coming home, and having that taken away.
I could understand MONTHS ago pulling a stunt like extending them, but not when a lot of our soldiers have made it home to their families, relieved it's over, only to have to turn right back around.
it's WRONG. and shady.
is there a forum of some sort where Americans could write in letters to their congress for support?

Absolutely its worth it!!! That's breach of contract on the governments part!! Tell your husband to go to his platoon commander and request mast. I'm a Marine but I'm sure there is a similar system in the Army (if that's his branch). In the Marines if someone requests mast the issue has to be resolved in 48 hours, and we could take it as high as the Commandant of the Marine Corps who could take it even higher.
The Navy has the same system.
I listened very carefully to my wife when I came home, believe me I understand it's harder for you here waiting, than it is for us there getting shot at. Before you blame the government remember one thing, war is a huge endeavor to undergo and some administrative details maybe over looked, and I know it sucks however in the big scheme of things its better to over look extra pay than beans, bullets and band-aids. Everything will straiten itself out in the end.
P.S. don't listen to the idiot above me, that's a coward who hides behind his computer instead of doing his duty like your husband. God bless you and him.

You answered your own question, your congressman has a home page, search for it. On that home page you may contact him by writing an email. Trust me it will be read and you will get a response. Tell all others you know in this situation to do the same. Unfortunatley, some Congressman would require the Service Member to make the actual complaint so there may a congressional investigation.

The first thing you have to do is makes sure that the promise of 'extra pay' existed in the first place. Just because your husband thinks he should be entitled to extra pay does not make it so.

Before you go about making a stink about this, make sure that your facts are accurate.

Like the "Decider" and Cheney said, they can do as they like! Yhe only thing congress can do is withhold funds, but that would mean that the soldiers would not be properly supplied. It should make Americans rethink their political voting stance, 2008 is not that far away!
