My husband is currently serving in Iraq. I called my local VFW post, they did not answer my question. They gave me the number to someone at a different post, who also did not answer my question. He was supposed to call me back, still waiting on that call since September. When you get a VFW dues renewal, it says that the money goes towards supporting families of service men/women that are currently serving our country. I want to know what type of services the VFW provides. I do need some support.

I don't mean a nation like Pakistan more like really powerfull nations for example France or Britain (the second time but India would be united this time) or China or the U.S.Not Pakistan India has grown out of thema long time ago (the last 3 wars which were unsuccesfull for Pakistan) and India should be in competition with stronger nations at this point. Hypothetical question all the listed countries which I am talking about are alies or neutral with India.

I was doing random room inspections, and I caught my Lieutenant, with a girl in his room overnight, which he knew is against the rules. Unfortunately, there have been field grade article15s for soldiers caught doing the same, but that type of punishment is not open to officers without getting GOs invoved. I want to teach him a lesson without ruining his career. Does anyone have an recommendations on courses of action I could take to be harsh but not career-ending? He needs some mentoring.

I have a question for honorably discharged U.S veterans. Are there any honorably discharged veterans who think the military was a waste of time? I am a seven year honorably discharged Navy vet. Since my discharge, I have yet to capitalize on any benefits or any type of recognition for employment opportunities including government jobs. However, I've used my GI bill to earn a college degree which partially paid for my education. I read a startling statistic that pointed out that 1 out of 4 veterans end up homeless ( what a shame). It seems that the so called benefits that vets are available to everyone; and the benefits that are available usually comes tied up with administrative red tape. From my perspective, those who only benefit are commissioned officers. I know I will get comments about being proud of myself for serving my country; but I say what for? I feel that these so-called veteran benefits are exaggerated and overrated. In retrospect, I wish I'd took another route.

Are there any returned vets who can give me advice. The situation is difficult because the relationship between my brother and I has been frought with much conflict for as many years as I can remember.

He's different since he has come back. The last time I saw him he was so haggard looking. I know for a fact that asking him all kinds of questions about Iraq is not what he needs, and that if he wants to talk about it let him, but don't force him.

But I guess I'm trying to ask if there is any advice on how I can best be there for him. What did you (returned vets) want from your family when you returned?

I can't see treating him like I used to, and I don't think that would be fair. He is a different person. He has visibly changed, and to deny that would be wrong, imo.

I'm not making much sense I realize, but am I making enough?

I'm wondering what the heck is Bush waiting for??? I belive the most important issue in the the war in iraq was the liberation of an opressed people. If Bush wants to show people that people are more important than oil or rumered weapons, he should show some interest in north korea. Do we always have to wait until countries become formabale oponants before we help the people who live in them? Maybe Bush doesnt want to get into wars with three countries before one of them ends. opinions?

I went to MEPs and got screened and they told me that my hearing in one ear is kinda bad, and i couldnt join the military yet, but there is a chance of getting it waivered and get in, but the only reason i wanted to go in was to try to become a Navy SEAL. So i asked if i did get in, is there a chance of becoming a SEAL and they said no, because the hearing is to bad in that ear. But the thing is, i hear good, i dont have any trouble hearing anything at school, work or anything. I use ear phones and mics with that ear and everything. I know i could do it if they gave me the chance. Is there any way of getting past it, and getting into the SEALs?

Okay this doesn't make sense to me. Why does the military have a cut off in age to become enlisted to officer. I know some Staff Sgt.'s that have their masters degree but have to answer to officers with a bachlors degree. Why doesn't the military let them become officer after the 28 year old cut off that at least the Marine Corp has. It would seem that the military would want their enlisted to become better educated but there are little to no incentives to do so. Granted they get a few points towards their cutting score at first, and it looks better when they go in front of the board but it doesn't gaurentee them the next rank. What do you think?
