my fellow aircraft maintainer and i are in a discussion, i am an F-15E Eagle crew chief, he is an a-10 crew chief.
1. the F-15 shot down 23 or 28 aircraft in desert storm. and has 103 air to air kills, with no F-15s shot down in air to air combat! the E model is equipt to fight air to air and air to grownd, it rains bombs and strikes fear into the heart of terrorists all around the world!
2. the a-10......ummm.....oh yeah has a big gun

Its apples and oranges. F15E is a fighter, the A10 is an attack aircraft used for close air support and killing tanks. The F15E is a much better fighter than an A10 will ever be. BUT I'm in currently in Afghanistan and love to see A10s coming to help us out. How many tanks and armored personnel carriers did A10s kill in Desert Storm? Its like comparing a Pit Bull and a Lab. Which one is better? Both? Just depends on your point of referance.

The A 10 that's a plane for real men with balls in to the heat of the battle low on to the ground giving support.
Can we have a look at the score of destroyed amour then the A 10 will be the leader
For i forget the A 10 can take must more hardware under it's wings then the F 15
When it's comes in striking fear into the hearts the warthog is master in doing that just seeing the plain is sufficient
Give me a A 10 I love that ugly bastard of a plain

The A-10 Thunderbolt II can take a lot of hits. It was designed to be a tank killer. It is slow, but it's stubby wings make it maneuverable and the electronics are not easy to jam. Most of the electronics are analog NOT digital. The rest may be to sensitive to write about. As to who would win a 'dog" fight it depends on the strength and weakness of the pilot along with familiarity of the plane.

At high altitudes the "Strike Eagle" would win almost but not likely at mid to low.

i admire us aircraft,my opinion is that, depending on the role of an aircraft and it's mission.say,a-10 is excellent on targetting ground targets,f-16 on air to air, stealth bomber during night missions.but when it comes to multi role capabilities,i'll go for f-15.
