Chaos, blood, terror. Maybe not what people want to hear. When the 4th Infantry Division rolls out of Bahgdad, that town will fall apart. A Shia versus Sunni blood bath will last for years. At some point, Iran, Egypt, and the Saudi's may throw their hats into the ring, but only through proxy's. None of those nations have the will to bleed for the Iraqi's as we have. The future of Iraq is dim, dim, dim.

You mean if we hadn't have come in and taken away a bloody monster who was torturing, raping and murdering his own people for his and his sons own pleasure what would Baghdad's future be like now? 1,000,000,000 times 1,000,000,000 times worse off than they are now. There would be no Iraq. He would have killed everyone and gone on to attack other countries, probably form an alliance with Bin ladan then they in turn would try to attack the world.
No one would be safe unless SOMEBODY stepped in to stop the madness. Which is usually the USA. We are the first ones to help out another country like sending food and medical treatment around the world when catastrophes happen and we are the first to defend ourselves when madmen attack.
God will Bless those who are the heros in the USA.

There was a chart in yesterdays NY Times on line taken from a Pentagon briefing on October 18. It shows Iraq on sliding scale from peace to chaos. The last marker is 3/4 of the way to chaos.

Hmm, My opinion about Iraq: there are so many different groups (religious, ethnic groups) that it is impossible to control this country in peace. I don't know how it is not this clear to anyone else. It is similar situation than in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Iraq will separate into different pieces of lands which will be in control in different groups of people.

The future of Iraq without saddam is great....the new democratic nation will take time to recover but will eventually get there....there are alot of good things happening there too, which the news does not concentrate on.

It is about letting the Iraqis controlling their own people. If it did not happen the US will be seen as an occupation force. We need to win the hearts and minds to avoid what was ignored in VietNam.
