note: the kind of alarm you'd find in a movie where an atomic bomb goes off....something like a disaster alarm.

well if the attack is so resounding that it cuts off all communication by radio and television, is there some sort of massive audio alarm that they might use? One that could be heard for miles?

Yes, they have tests on the radio and tv all the time like that. I'm sure they wouldn't leave you in the dark as to what's happening. But if we were attacked, with the weapons they have today, well--maybe I wouldn't want to be around.

If it's a nuclear attack, the Civil Defense sirens will sound and the Emergency Broadcast System will be activated as soon as there is a launch detection. However, the first nuke to "pop" will be one in the upper atmosphere over the major cities. This causes total loss of all electrical circuits due to EMP (Electro-Magnetic Pulse) and then the alarms and radio stations will be silenced. Then, ...God help us all.

I would think a tornado siren, or something to that effect since I doubt many people would be able to differentiate nowadays between that and an air-raid siren, would sound if the attack was in your area, as a signal to get/keep your *** inside. However, the events of 9/11 were an attack on the US and I didn't hear any alarms that day, just lots of brutal news covereage.

The EBS over radio and television is 'supposed' to sound, given that the EMP has not effected it. Some of the major cities have air raid warnings, but other than that, the first inkling of a preemptive stike would be the impacts of the EMP.

I think the only warning your gonna get is from the tv or radio. If it happens too fast and knocks out communication for awhile, you probably won't get notice until an hour or so afterwards when word starts getting around. Small town sirens only work when a natural disaster is visible locally I.E. tornado or hurricane.

I doubt it since Democrats and Republicans argue so much about defense that nothing constructuve gets done.

The Civil Defense literature is oudated and its replacement the Federal Emergency Management Agency has become a joke.

Yes! the alarms will sound with a "TOTAL military police state that has already been setup againist us" it will be sooner then you think.
Any false attack againist this country will end up in the total enslavement againist the people of the United States. Then it will be civil war. Our military and foreign military will be used againist the people of this country. We will realize that all has been prepared before hand to enslave us. The "Constitution" that we beleived in will now be replaced with the fema camps and internment of american citizens. Citizens could be exterminated by saying they have disease that need to be kepe away of the general population.

there are only disaster alarms in certain places. they do yearly tests on them so you would know if you town or city had them. most likely you arent going to hear anything, except of course for the deafening silence of nuclear winter.
