Kerry made a stupid comment, and he should apologize. HOWEVER no soldiers died for that comment being made. Shouldn't Bush apologize for the 3000 deaths of our soldiers, while joking that he can't find the WMD that led us into Iraq.

If you were joining the Indiana Army ACTIVE National Guard and you wanted an MOS that would give you good experience in a civillian career? (I can think of MP, but what else)

--Thanks

Even though Kerry misspoke, wasn't what he said the truth? How many rich, college educated men & women have volunteered to serve in Iraq, compared to high school drop-outs & poor kids? I'm sure the number of people with higher learning is far, far less than the number of college students! Probably even as high as 20 to 1.

and diet only. I still have about 30 pounds to lose (I know, that's a lot of weight all together, I'm ashamed, please don't ridicule me any more than I have already done to myself). My question is, is it a horrible idea to take diet pills to help lose this last 30 pounds, it's just taking so long and I want to enlist. Thanks.

I am shipping out to boot camp in a month and am trying to plan the next couple years. I got an ASVAB score of 98 and am guaranteed a job as a Nuke, and will likely pursue being a Machinist Mate. My questios are: If I signed the paper that volunteers myself for Submarine duty, is it guaranteed that I will serve on a sub, or is that just then another option? And what is considered more "prestigious", serving on a Submarine or an Aircraft Carrier. That is, in the long-term career picture, which would be better for later promotions? Finally, will I have any option as to which ship or sub I serve on?

Do You Really Have Respect For Our Enlisted?

No! I don't understand Kerry's remarks. If they were a mistake, then they were a mistake that should never have been made by a man in his position or who was afforded the level of education he received. I have no respect for Kerry on the matter of his "botched joke."

On the contrary, I have far more respect for a person who recognizes that, for whatever reason, their circumstances and or their abilities (financial or otherwise) are not going to afford them the level of success through our education system that was afforded by the likes of Kerry.

It takes a lot of COURAGE and WISDOM to realize that joining the military and laying your life on the line for your country might very well be the only way you have a chance in this world.

So there are enlisted who change oil, clean tires and chip paint. There are enlisted who flip eggs and scrub pots and pans. There are amo runners and hole diggers.

Hi

See my other question in here titled National guard or Army?

Basically My husband has now decided hes going back into the Miliatry at age 41... have not chosen where yet Army or Guard
But
We have 2 Mallards.. we have wildlife permits for them but we are not willing to get rid of them to do this.. not at all

I work with Wildlife, and they were rescues over 3 years ago and are family to all of us now.
I cant seem to get a real answer or get conflicting info on whether
this type of animal would be allowed if we were living on base in base housing?
I only ask because even if were to live off base and go REG army and My husband were to get trransfered overseas where we'd live on base.. then we'd be in trouble...

Any info on this would be good or any contact sites or info as well...
Thank you!

Can anyone think of a good Christmas present for a friend of mine who is stationed in Iraq right now. Your opinion is particlarly valued if you are in the service and have been over there. I don't know what my friend would need or miss from home. I do know that this base has many more amenities than others, but I don't know what comforts the soldiers go without. Thanks for your help!

PS- if you have any other tips (mailing to Iraq or maybe I should send him more than one thing because his friend might need something, etc.) please don't hesitate to include these.

Why do people use the deaths of American soldiers as a step up onto their democratic liberal soapboxes? Most of the guys I was deployed with voted to keep Bush in office. And I have never once heard a soldier complain about doing the job that they signed up for. We don't have a dog in this fight, so why does everyone see fit to use us as examples of why Bush sucks?

After millions of words about Iraq, it all comes down to one word:

Decades.

That's from the Washington Post's Baghdad reporter on 10/31/06:

The top U.S. military commander in Iraq, Gen. George W. Casey Jr., predicted last week that Iraqi security forces would be able to take control of the country in 12 to 18 months. But several days spent with American units training the Iraqi police illustrated why those soldiers on the ground believe it may take decades longer than Casey's assessment.

Decades. Why decades?

Seventy percent of the Iraqi police force has been infiltrated by militias, primarily the Mahdi Army, according to Shaw and other military police trainers. Police officers are too terrified to patrol enormous swaths of the capital. And while there are some good cops, many have been assassinated or are considering quitting the force. "None of the Iraqi police are working to make their country better," said Brig. Gen. Salah al-Ani, chief of police for the western half of Baghdad. "They're working for the militias or to put money in their pocket."

Decades - all to empower murderous sectarian militias, rob U.S. taxpayers blind, and kill or maim more U.S. soldiers.

Just this month we lost 103 brave young Americans, bringing the U.S. total to 2,816.

But George Bush insists U.S. troops absolutely will not leave Iraq until "victory" is achieved - however long that takes.

Decades.

The children of U.S. soldiers killed in Iraq may grow up to fight and die in Iraq, just like their parents.

And between now and then, 100 American soldiers may die every single month.

Decades.

Do you want to send today's high school seniors to fight and die in Iraq to train Iraqis who won't defend their country for Decades?

Do you want to send today's high school freshmen to fight and die in Iraq to train Iraqis who won't defend their country for Decades?

Do you want to send today's junior high freshmen to fight and die in Iraq to train Iraqis who won't defend their country for Decades?

Do you want to send today's first graders to fight and die in Iraq to train Iraqis who won't defend their country for Decades?

Do you want to send all of their children to fight and die in Iraq to train Iraqis who won't defend their country for Decades?

If your answer to this question is No, then please take one small action: send this email to everyone you know and implore them to vote a straight Democratic ticket next Tuesday November 7.

Our children - and their children - will thank you.

Sunni insurgents have cut the roads linking the city to the rest of Iraq. The country is being partitioned as militiamen fight bloody battles for control of towns and villages north and south of the capital. As American and British political leaders argue over responsibility for the crisis in Iraq, the country has taken another lurch towards disintegration.
Well-armed Sunni tribes now largely surround Baghdad and are fighting Shia militias to complete the encirclement.
The Sunni insurgents seem to be following a plan to control all the approaches to Baghdad. They have long held the highway leading west to the Jordanian border and east into Diyala province. Now they seem to be systematically taking over routes leading north and south.
Prime Minister Nuri Kamal al-Maliki demanded the removal of American checkpoints from the streets of Baghdad on Tuesday, in what appeared to be his latest and boldest gambit in an increasingly tense struggle for more independence.
