and diet only. I still have about 30 pounds to lose (I know, that's a lot of weight all together, I'm ashamed, please don't ridicule me any more than I have already done to myself). My question is, is it a horrible idea to take diet pills to help lose this last 30 pounds, it's just taking so long and I want to enlist. Thanks.

Seriously, though, if you lost 42 pounds already, then you must be doing something right. Good luck and God Bless!

Good for you on the weight loss!

I would recommend against the diet pills, though. I would recommend that you continue doing what you're doing. It's the only way to lose weight in a way that you will be more likely to keep it off. Diet pills mainly work by causing you to lose water weight, which will eventually screw up the electrolytes in your blood. When your electrolytes get imbalanced, you run the risk of having problems with your heart, among other things.

I've been running three miles a day and watching what I eat, and I lost 30 pounds and 15 inches in just three months. (I'm also looking at the Navy - I was in the Navy for 4 years and then got out. Now I'm going to nursing school and getting my body back into shape so that I can be a Navy Nurse.)

I know you can do it. Good Luck!

I just needed to shed a few pounds, so I started walking more- parking further away from my destination, taking the stairs (you've heard that one a lot, right?), doing less efficient house work just to burn more calories and slight exercising. Also, I take 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar before 2 of my daily meals. It helps aid in digestion and a million other things. On average, people who use it loose 2 pounds a week. I've lost the right amount of weight in the right time. I've also started to eat smaller more frequent meals and eat only until I'm full. I try not to eat anything after 8 P.M. to give my body some time to burn it off. I can fit back into my clothes and my legs and face look great! There are areas that need toning, but I can do it. Whatdoyathink?

Keep exercising and see if you can spring for blood tests to check for thyroid or other adrenal functional levels. If not that, increase your cardiovascular by swimming, high speed walking or running. You will also burn more fat by doing strength training in conjunction with cardio 5 times a week. Circuit training is best for weight loss. Drink water constantly; drink green teas to help the cravings and eat plenty of fruits and vegetables with lean protein sources such as chicken or tuna in water. Please don't use diet pills. They are diuretics that can cause serious cardio problems plus waste your money. Keep up the good work as you are not only doing it to enlist but you are doing it to save your life!!!!

Diet pills are not a fix all solution. They work for some people and not for others. Artificial weight loss also works as a quick fix. You either have to continue to use them or work out twice as hard as you would have had you not used them. Natural weight loss is the best way to go, but you know your situation. Make the best decision for you.

Just keep doing what you have been. By the time you ship off to basic you will be far better off. Those pills are not good for you.

Rome wasn't built in a day and good things come to those who wait.

Keep up the good work!

Shoot, I would say go for it. Even though those diet pills only help you lose weight fast and only for a little bit before you pack em on again, if you do enlist, i can guarantee that boot camp will make you keep that weight off. :o)

Good luck!!

yes because they can harm your health more than help you. If you are enlisting, then you need to be in shape, so I would say try to ramp up your workouts (especially running and weights). Remember, you goal is to lose weight to be HEALTHY, not skinny. The healthier you are when you enlist, the better you will do in boot camp.
