I went to MEPs and got screened and they told me that my hearing in one ear is kinda bad, and i couldnt join the military yet, but there is a chance of getting it waivered and get in, but the only reason i wanted to go in was to try to become a Navy SEAL. So i asked if i did get in, is there a chance of becoming a SEAL and they said no, because the hearing is to bad in that ear. But the thing is, i hear good, i dont have any trouble hearing anything at school, work or anything. I use ear phones and mics with that ear and everything. I know i could do it if they gave me the chance. Is there any way of getting past it, and getting into the SEALs?

I failed my hearing test first time around. Go home and clean out your ears and then schedule another appt through your recruiter for MEPs. Thats what I did and I passed it no problem second time around.

I don't know why anyone would join the navy to be a SEAL. If you want to serve on a Ship or sub or in a SEA BEE unit got it go for it. But every guy I ran into who enlisted to be a SEAL hated his job because he was not a SEAL because he got kicked out at random on the first day and the Navy gave him a job he hates.
If you want to Carry a rifle and close with and destroy the enemy, the Army and Marines have a lot of jobs that Don't have 80% Failure rates (they have that because they use it as a recruiting tool). At least if you fail out of Ranger School or SFAS you can still be Infantry.
You sound like you would have been one of those guys who hated the Navy job they were going to give you. Join a service where you can do what you want (I am assuming is to do cool stuff) Drive a tank or go in to explosives or something writing home about. Or Swab Decks whatever.

Just so everyone knows, johndarocker is not a Navy SEAL. If you read some of the answers he has given to other questions you can tell.
As far as an answer to the question. The only way you will get what you want is to pass the hearing test.

Entering the military is a great goal. And I don't want to discourage you. If you join any branch and make it through boot camp, you will be very proud of who and what you are.
Navy Seals, Marine special ops (which is what I was) or Airborne are the best of the best. The smallest impairment will probably keep you from becoming a Seal.
The best thing to do is to join, be the best in boot camp and get noticed by your DI or Gunny, and who knows.
A Dream and hard work may overcome a small hearing problem.

Best thing to do is see if you can retake the hearing test. If you cannot pass it again then I would say that you would have no chance at getting in the SEALs. Talk to your recruiter and see if you can take a retest and like SSgt JB said, try cleaning out your ears before you go.
Yea have to say the same thing about johndarocker, he is no where close to military. On another question he claimed to be USAF. All I can say to that is, if a guy has to lie about being in the military then his balls must be none existent.

I'm not in the military, but I am in a program that deals with military life. If they tell you that the hearing is too bad in one ear, then there's no possible way they'd let you. If they all have the same physical requirements, which they do, then any check will deny you training for SEALs. Sure, you may be able to use headphones and hear fine in school and work, but you may not even notice miniscule sounds you don't hear that, with the better hearing required, you'd need to hear in a combat situation. Sorry to hear about this setback, but there's no way around it to my knowledge.

Seals may not take you, but then there is the Army Rangers, Airborne, Air Force Pararescue, gunners on helicopters, etc....don't lose hope, there is always something out there for you. I came in the USAF 5 lbs. under my minimum weight, no arches in my feet, and knees that popped liked rifles when I dropped to one knee, so, there is always a way.......

not really cause they want the best of the best in the seals. everything has to be perfect with them, even down to the littlest things like hearing problems
