I don't mean a nation like Pakistan more like really powerfull nations for example France or Britain (the second time but India would be united this time) or China or the U.S.Not Pakistan India has grown out of thema long time ago (the last 3 wars which were unsuccesfull for Pakistan) and India should be in competition with stronger nations at this point. Hypothetical question all the listed countries which I am talking about are alies or neutral with India.

If you checked you would find that India is already has nukes. Russia isn't really in good enough shape to help anyone out. Although selling arms is becoming a big export business in Russia. Glad its a hypothetical question. I can't figure out who or why anyone would attack India.

I wouldn't count on it. Russia, like most nations, is very self serving. If in a hypothetical situation where India was attacked by a nation that possessed Nukes, Russia would be extremely cautious in offering any aid to India. The Russian economy is fragile enough without risking conflict with nations like the U.S., U.K.,China, or France. Honestly though, I don't think India has much to worry about. A billion population and a few hundred nukes of your own is a very strong defense. The only thing India has to worry about is the Paki gov't being overthrown by terrorists. Then you have a problem....

When it was the Soviet Union. India did purchase military hardware, but if they do it now it would be extreme low key. They were almost allies because the Soviets wanted to harm warm water bases and and their major ones like Murmansk and Archangel could be mined so heavily that ship would not be able to leave these harbours.
It all depends on President Vladimir V Putin.

russia (former USSR) was is and always will be the traditional ally of india they might supply india with warheads and stuff like that but won't get too involved in wars unless it directly affects them
at the moment it still has to stabilize its capitalist economy since the dissolution of the USSR which has deteriorated and which therussians are trying to build up

Good quesiton. I doubt it however, as India is a major trading partner with us. However, thats a very good quesiton and I'm whistling in the dark on this one,,,,I don't think they would give military support, but they might give technical support in their own defense
