global security is such a dope site....what a load of crap....its soooo biased towards americans......u ask any american and they say they have the best....newsflash...u were the best by FAR few years ago...and since the 21st century things are rapidly changing....russia is once again starting to become the superpower they were....china is rapidly becoming one and iran and north korea are starting to become a big player in the world...but americans cant except that...sure america still has a pretty good military but their advantage is diminishing year by year...i guess the only way to prove to american egos is by denting them....so ur time will come going this pathway...global security is such a biased site that it instantly loses credibility...i know americans think they r the best(for now) but that same arrogance the israelis showed in lebabnon...one day the americans will feel that..and it will be much worse that that! so what do u think? NO american answers plz! too biased!

I've served in the Army and Air Force. I like the Air Force far more than the Army, but just wanted your opinion. What would you chose? Why? Coast Guard is included.

Since well over 100 years (don't know the exact date, but they were already around in the 1860s) France has had its Foreign Legion where men from all nations of the world could become soldiers. This multi-cultural approach is unique and could be the model for a future EU Army. Or do we really need 16 or 25 different armies with different standards, doctrines etc?

I was at a volleyball game and they said "please rise and face the flag for the national anthem." and I plan to get into the military and I show great respect for anyone that has served/serving for this country, and some of my friends screw around and one doesn’t even face the flag or stand up. I know they have their freedom but that just P!$$ES me off cause I see it as they are disrespecting the flag, their country, and the solders... do you think I should get mad about this or not?

When the recruiters come to the school people laugh at the navy calling them seamen and the National Guard, Air Force, and Army calling them pusses and that crap. These people are wanting to get into the Marines but the way I see it is that you still did an honorable thing and served for your country and deserve respect, how many people think this way?

The name seems to be a rebirth of mercenary units from the 30 year's war. In the present case, they seemed to be spontaneous formations set out to take sides in the uprisings all over Germany in the early Weimar Republic. The research I've read to date is skimpy, and too judgemental to seem trustworthy.

k, i've talked to recruiters, they don't seem to want to tell me anything (i think they just have a problem with women, i'm going to see some different ones soon). but the physical requirements. i'd like to have some idea about it before i join so i can get myself up to speed. i.e. running, crunches, push-ups, pull-ups, etc. i got some C.D.'s but was told they were really for the "males". thanks everybody!!!!

Has he created a leaner more agile military or has he created a bonanza for war profiteers with all the out-sourcing of basic services to Halliburton and other firms with connections?
Is this a more costly way to run a military?
With so much information classified, how can we know?
Would a return to the draft be a good idea concurrently ending outsourcing therby providing opportunities for young people in the military to acquire transferrable job skills?

So yeah, just tell me what you think the outcome was? Also, at the same time, if anyone knows if you get paid for playing football for your country, you can add that as a footnote, so long.
