How many people think that Iran is just stalling the UN an US about thier nuclear program so that they can try to attack the US or any of its neighbors or allies. like japan did to the US @ pearl harbor in WW2??

N. Korea talks about nuclear weapons all the time... and we talk about giving them food and money if they stop..

Iran's President, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, is a zealot, and believes that he can usher in the Mahdi (the Islamic Messiah) by engaging the infidels in the West with Jihad. He will stop at nothing, including destroying some of his own people, to get what he wants.
He has learned his lessons well. He knows history. Hitler telegraphed his intentions to engage in a world war, and yet the west didn't believe him. Until he started, and even then, after annexing Austria, taking over part of Czechoslovakia, and Poland, the west still attempted to appease Hitler.
Ahmadinejad is using the very same tactics. He has told the world what his intentions are, and like deer caught in the headlights, the West is incredulous. He also saw how Saddam Hussein was able to negotiate for years with the West before we did anything. Ahmadinejad figures he probably has a decade before we try and stop him, and by then it will be too late.

They're definitely stalling. I don't know if they would ever attack us or not--perhaps they are crazy enough to do it, perhaps not. But it's for sure that once they get nukes, they will have the leverage and the power they have wanted for a long time.....and this would be a very bad thing for the region and for the whole world.
Whether or not they WOULD attack us is in question. But the fact is, if they had nukes, they COULD.

I don't. Iran is a very OLD country, and they're a LONG way from being stupid. Sure they're jerking us around now- they want to develop a nuclear program so as to have a better bargaining chip in World Affairs. They're not going to commit "suicide"- by using nuclear weapons against anyone else. Even if they DID build a bomb- Israel could take Iran out all by itself because they have such a big head start in the process.

I think they're stalling cause once they have a nuke they think we won't do anything about it. I don't think they're stalling to attack us. The balance of power is too great in the USA's favor, and (as 9/11 showed) when we take a sneak attack the rest of the world is on our side. We only started having problems when we attacked the country that had nothing to do with the sneak attack (Iraq).

I doubt they are planning to attack anyone, everybody still has more nukes than they can construct and have better delivery systems.
From Iran's perspective, they need to protect themselves, the US invaded their neighbor and continually casts Iran as the bad guy, whether warranted or not.
Israel and it's neighbors continue to disagree, violently, and also blame Iran, whether warranted or not.
No one knows what is going on in Russia to the north.
China is always prepared to expand their borders.
India to the south continues to become more unstable.
Iran has issues much closer to home.
It is tough being a geopolitical lynchpin through an accident of geography.
Iran either takes steps to protect itself or it will be perceived as weak and a target.
I am not an apologist, but Iran has every right to protect itself.

no i disagree with you.. i don;t think iran will start anything right now.. if they do attack anyone it will be isreal NOT the US!! they have said that they are not wanting war with the US despite the fact that they don;t like the us.. they want isreal wiped off the map! Now i am a firm beliver that.. i will not happen!!!

It cannot be denied. Hopefully Israel will do our dirty work for us as they have done so often in the past, if not we may end up having to destroy them, it would not be the politically correct war we have become used to in the past years, it would be very very nasty

do you really think that they are stupid enough to try to attack us? the most powerful single nation on earth at this very moment? no they will not directly attack us. they most likely would give a nuclear device to a small group of radicals, they would bomb washington dc and bush would be no more. not that thats a bad thing but...
