Is there a regulation in the military that says the use of BLUE colored pens is not authorized? Or what is the deal with using colored pens. I can understand that using a pink pen of neon green colored pens you definitely woudnt use. Or is it just a generation passed tradition that using a BLUE pen is frowned upon. All comments and thoughts are openly welcome!!!!

Truthfully, how hard is it compared to "hearsay" and what you see in the movies? Please, only those who have actually been to Parris Island within the last 10 years respond.

I'm considering joining while I still can. I'm 28, in average shape but working out and running daily (1 mile run). I've been told I need to be able to run 3 miles non-stop before shipping off. Any truth to this? Also, how much harder would it be for an older guy like me compared to the 18-19 year olds? Any advice, stories, or motivational tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

No one knows how tough it is to run a household and survive like a military spouse...
Single parents KNOW they have no option...but a military spouse of a deployed service person has a better half...that is away indefinately...
How do you keep going, what do you tell yourself that helps you hold out and survive the tough times?

like vehicles that has no windows, no doors, no armor; and NOT FOR A PRESENT WAR , rather a future war.

Its cost is about $30,000 less than a "humvee".

Can you say rediculous??

My daughter left Wednesday August 16, and I got her address from her recruiter the following Monday. I've written her everyday since. When should I expect a letter from her? Are they restricted to write home for a certain period of time?

what do you think would be the result, wouldn't the whole world start going to war with each other... do you think the UN could police the world? wouldn't you be worried that so many countries would have nuclear weapons that soon and very soon this whole planet would go up in a mushroom cloud?... I"m not claiming to know the answer to this, just wondering about others opinions.

Is there any military spouse support groups or websites to meet other spouse's going through the same type of thing?? What about information sites that inform you about what is available to you?? My husband just left for basic a few says ago and I am having a hard time dealing with his absence. Yes I know he is ONLY in basic but that doesn't mean I don't miss him. Right now I haven't even got his address to mail him.

My husband was shipped off to Fort Leanoard Wood Monday (Aug 28). I know military pay schedule is the 1st and the 15th. So my question is will his check be deposited on the 1st or 15th of Sept?? Will it be any longer than that???? He is filing me as a dependent and we already had our bank account so they will not have to open an account for us. He is also the only source of income.(I don't know if this has any effect on how soon you get your check) Also, will his first check be a full or half check??? Will the housing be on the check as well... full or half??

what base or country were you(if allowed to put)

what is your favorite thing you remember most about living overseas culturally wise?

what was your favorite on base life experiance?

what do you wish was the same in the states that you knew and did there?

what did you hate about living overseas (if there during a war time share your story please.)

would you recommend great places to check out if they were planning to move there?

what food was differant that you tried, liked or disliked?

i ask theses because i tell people my own life overseas, but dont have many people around me that i know that lived that life.sometimes civilian life is boring after a fun life as a military brat

once a brat always a brat and proud of it. how about you. hugs all.

i know families should support their military spouse, but what do you do to keep your family strong when they are home or while they are gone to keep the family strong. share your ideas with other parents. so they can keep the family active and close with ideas they may never have thought of before. these ideas may help a parents lost in options, when butting head with the kids who may feel they are lacking attention and such. i know overseas its limited. if you have ever lived overseas and know ideas still share those too.

i ask this because i was one and i wish i could start a site to help.eople who enlist think of the career they are beigining, but not always ready for family life even if its step children. i lived it 20 years as a brat. it was easy and hard for me and my 2 siblings. i want to have a way to share what i learned and was taught by othes. if there is already a site where militarybrats can share or support current military kids that are struggling let me know?

From what's I'm reading, Bush, the Generals in Iraq and the Iraq parliment is saying troops withdrawal is possible in 18 months. Now 18 months is great at least now we have a timeline but isn't it particularly close to when Bush is about to step down from office and the next election is being held? Does Bush want to leave on a good footing or help the next Republican candidate. I can't see any Republican winning the Presidency if we are still deeply in trenched in Iraq during the next election.
