From what's I'm reading, Bush, the Generals in Iraq and the Iraq parliment is saying troops withdrawal is possible in 18 months. Now 18 months is great at least now we have a timeline but isn't it particularly close to when Bush is about to step down from office and the next election is being held? Does Bush want to leave on a good footing or help the next Republican candidate. I can't see any Republican winning the Presidency if we are still deeply in trenched in Iraq during the next election.

I read that too...But I think they are just filling us fool of you know what to get good ole Dubya's votes back up. He is at his all time low of 33% liking him,and only 33% of America thinking this war is any good. I would love to have my hubby home from Iraq, and to be able to think they will not be going back, but they lie to us all the time! War means money, and as long as we are over there,we are lining the pockets of the Political bastards,in other words..I doubt we will be gone soon.

These timetables come and go. If it's not GWB making a time table statement, then it's Rumsfeld. If not Rumsfeld, then it's a General or the president of Iraq, or Condi Rice.
Seeing will be believing when it comes to troop withdrawal. It's not as though these guys aren't half way sincere, the fact is, the insurgents are the ones pulling their strings.
The duty of the insurgents is to keep the Americans running around putting out fires. Keep the American military running around, doing busy work, but accomplishing nothing. In other words, keep them bogged down. Obviously Rumsfeld isn't smart enough to see that, or he would have done something about it. So, maybe that is as good a reason as any, for him to be replaced? You can't run a military complex like corporate America and expect to be successful and this is what Rumsfeld thinks, will work, and it's not working.
Remember Paul Bremer? He ipotomized corporate America and failed miserably. He too, was a Rumsfeld brainstorm!
You can't see how a republican will succeed GWB, is that what I'm to understand? Well, I disagree! I disagree because I do not trust a single liberal democrat to protect this country. There isn't one out there or on the horizon that could possibly get my vote. And, it's for that reason only, that I believe a republican can win.. More importantly, there's a hugh silent majority of Americans that feel the same way I do, so don't count your chickens before they're hatched.

There will be NO TROOP WITHDRAWALS from Iraq until Dick Cheney has a rock-solid, iron clad arrangement in place to get all of Iraq's OIL, with the full cooperation of the new Iraqi government which Cheney helped to install.
PREDICTION: We'll also be fighting in Iran within a year for the very same reason: we want all of that easily-accessible OIL.
That's all there is to it.
Yes, Cheney probably has plans to pull troops out right before the 2008 election. But only if he has the OIL deal in place. -RKO-

Don't count on it yet, something might happen before the 18 months is here and if it does, President Bush will not be going anywhere. The Republicans will win, the dimocRATS are too anti-american our benefit!!!

it truly is One Democrat who believes we are able to not in basic terms leave. a diverse direction is necessary yet to in simple terms pull out thoroughly, is a mistake. although i changed into adversarial to the invasion of Iraq, the u . s . is there now and it ought to make sensible that Iraq is stabilized before it may even evaluate leaving. it will make the terrorist agencies imagine that they can proceed the killing of possibility free human beings because the u . s . will ultimately leave them on my own. that's something the u . s . can't enable to take position! Pulling the troops out now will be an insult to each and each of the yank squaddies who've lost their lives. although extremely a number of my fellow Democrats ought to disagree with me, the fallen troops ought to have fallen for not something if the u . s . in basic terms "cuts and Runs"! i recognize that's troublesome to keep listening to about our squaddies dropping their lives yet in the longer time period, i have self assurance even more beneficial lives will be kept. i'm military Reserve -retired so i recognize the way it ought to sense if the armed forces changed into advised... they ought to leave something unfinished.

I'd like to believe what I'm reading, but it is true that he said the next administration will have to clean up his mess.
I can't even say more. This president makes me so mad. I could rant for ever!

if they are leaving in 18 months, that's great, they need to come back home after so much hard work.
