My husband was shipped off to Fort Leanoard Wood Monday (Aug 28). I know military pay schedule is the 1st and the 15th. So my question is will his check be deposited on the 1st or 15th of Sept?? Will it be any longer than that???? He is filing me as a dependent and we already had our bank account so they will not have to open an account for us. He is also the only source of income.(I don't know if this has any effect on how soon you get your check) Also, will his first check be a full or half check??? Will the housing be on the check as well... full or half??

Well his AKO e-mail is set up but I try to register a pin number on My mil pay and it just tells me his social isn't in the system yet. So technically he doesn't have a my mil pay yet.

I know for a fact that I will be getting basic housing allowance. His recruiter verified this fact to me when he swore in.

The above answers are wrong.
First off, since he has a dependent who is not in government housing, no matter what he will get full BAH at the "with dependents" rate. That is non-negotiable.
Secondly, you will not get paid on the 1st of Sept. He might not even have inprocessed finance by then if he shipped out on the 28th, especially because of the Labor Day holiday. The earliest you could be paid is the 15th, but that's only if he selects "Twice a month" pays. If he selects "Once a month" you won't be paid till Oct. 1st. And even if he selects "Twice a month" you might not get paid till Oct 1st cause it might take that long to process. But no matter what, you'll eventually get all the money you're owed. It just might not come right away.
Thirdly, when in the military, never live paycheck-to-paycheck. There's too much room for mistakes. You'll eventually get your money, but I know people who didn't get paid for a few months at a time.

If probably will not take long for your direct deposit to start. Military only does direct deposit, no checks. The money will be deposited usually late in the evening of the 1st and 15th of each month. He will be getting his full pay and BAH (Basic Allowance for Housing). I wouldn't count on seeing a check for a little while as usually they pay you at the end of boot camp for the entire time he has been in and then everything starts from there.

Ok -- first thing when he reports in will be in the inprocessing -- and the question will be answered then -- and Military Pay will be calculated from the day he inprocessed (arrived on station). As far as when it will come in to the account listed -- he will also have the question answered during the Finance Inprocessing by the Finance Clerk that will be giving the briefing. Since he is in Basic -- he is being housed on post -- so he will NOT get a full with Dependents Housing rate -- it will only be partial -- and that will be calculated in Finance.
Be patient -- this is day 1 -- let him get his briefing, listen to what the Finance Clerk Says -- and then let him contact you about the pay and benefits.

My husband is currently active duty in the Army. From my experience with the way the Army pays...I would not expect to be paid until the 1st of October, maybe even later than that.

You get payed on the 1st and 15th.......but for our first paycheck you have to wait 30 days just like in a civillian job.If you need money until your husbands paycheck gets in just get a interest free lohn from the military.
By the way never believe a recruiter(own experience).
for you to get bah your husband have to go to housing and show the lease and i believe it takes a while too to get the money.

Good luck getting it on the first. My husband didn't process until three pay periods. And it took the military another 2 pay periods after that to realize that we were married. Don't rely on the government to get things right. Get on them about fixing it. Make sure you have power of attorney.

it usually takes about a month to 6 weeks. depending on how fast they process his paperwork. dont worry you have a nice fat check coming.
by the way i went through boot camp at "Fort Lost in the woods"
he is going to learn about the joys of picking ticks off his body, and the humidity over there is INSANE!!! it makes florida seem like tucson.

It should be deposited on the 1. Just like everyone elses, Unless he has made other arrangements you should get...Like all but...25 or 30 percent. Which he might need for living expences.

the 1st and 15th of each month unless those days fall on a holiday.
if it's direct deposit you should have nothing to worry about. does he have a "my pay" account?

You should get the first pay about 6 weeks after he goes to basic training. The military is not in a big hurry to pay their people. You don't get any housing until he is assigned to his first duty station which will be after he finishes his AIT, probably 6 months from now.
