For those who have shared. I was in....
Ramstein AFB Germany, 3 years 1980-82
Ahlhorn AFB Germany (2 hours from Garlstedt) mid 89-mid 91 (closed now)
Wethersfield AFB, England mid 84-mid 86 (closed now)
But I visited many bases for softball games and bowling. i am currently working on my own blog of my life as a military kid.

Ankara, Turkey and Ramstein AB, Germany. I spent 2 years in Ankara and I loved it. The food was amazing, especially Doner Kebabs, Adana Kebabs, and Borek. Cappadocia in central Turkey and the Snake Castle near Incirlik AB were amazing. The people were extremely friendly. I just missed having American goods at a nearby store. We were 8 hours from Incirlik with a BX, so we didn't go that often.

After Turkey, my 4 years in Germany were pretty boring. The Ramstein area is home to 60,000 Americans, so anything you want is there. I didn't like German food or their tourist sites as much as Turkey's. The people were still nice. I guess Neuschwanstein is a must if you are in Germany, but I personally wasn't too impressed with the palace. I perfer ruins that you can climb around.

All in all, I really enjoyed my 7 years overseas. The military community over there is extremely welcoming and supportive. The people (Americans) are extremely knowledgable about world events and the DoDDS schools are better than almost any in the states (Ramstein '05).

My dad was in the Navy and stationed in Naples Italy for 5 years(1994-1998). I really enjoyed living there because the people there were always so nice and I never felt un-welcome. ( I was 10-15 years old) My favorite experiance was going to Mt. Vesuvius visiting all of the churches on study trips. ROME...ah rome I was able to see Pope John Paul even though he was already old and i wasn't catholic sitting in Papral Audiance was a moving experiance as he blessed each nation in there own language. I saw the all of the usual toursit like places and other things that visitors never do because my family lived off post the whole time.

The only thing I didn't enjoy though was seeing the suffering of so many stray animals. My friends and I would always try and feed them or play with them and the horrible thing was most of the time all they wanted was attention.

Also I lived in Puerto Rico from 1998-2002. NOt so much over seas as Italy but it was still a very worth while experiance. The tropical latin culture....awsome. I now live in Hawaii and married an Army Soldier, he's awsome and I still get to travel which is a must being a military brat I become antsy living in a place too long, been here 5 years and it's getting very annoying lol. Any other military brats out there want to chat it up about great childhood stories about being Stationed in Naples Italy Or Puerto Rico or any where else my yahoo IM is flogging_my_3rd@yahoo.com

S. military. regrettably, and particularly thankfully, my mom became against us vacationing (my sister and that i) to distinctive worldwide places for long sessions of time, so we on no account stayed extra beneficial than 6 months or went to circulate circulate to. the only ingredient I bear in ideas is going to Germany whilst i became like 7 and my sister became 5 and staying there for 6 months. they have American instructors there on base that way we don't omit any education or motives us to fall at the back of on our study. using fact of my dad, i desperate to connect the army and that i've got been in myself for the final 3 hundred and sixty 5 days. I plan on having a family members sometime and that i will't wait to take them with me foreign places so they might have the skill to adventure the countless very comparable issues I did.
