I am Active Duty Air Force now going on 13yrs at age 30.
I have supervised many female Airmen most of my career. As I always tell my female troops, the Military is like a college campus full of horny male/female recruits. Now if things werent tough enough on station when you go down range into the war zone its worse. Guess what you are now on a smaller base, females are the minority and no one is allowed off the base. Now does this mean that women should be scared of joining the military. Does it mean we are better off without women in the military..NO!
My best troop ever was a Female. She won every award I could possible puther up for. She was so sharp and intellegent she would make me look bad when I was around her. But that what I wanted to see. Harassment is an ongoing battle women will face until there are no men on earth. No matter what job you do. Here is the plus side. In the military no one can run! So its easy for people like me to find these scum bags who treat our female troop disrespectfully. Just dont let them get to you. If you stand up to a few guys in the shop, tell them straight out to quit. Most of the time they will stop..because they know that a report of sexual harassment in todays military means an end to their carer. And if that wont work, get your bosses involed. Tel the First Sergeant thats his job! Tell your supervisors. Always remember one thing. You will one day have a lot more rank..and when you do make sure you do everything in your power to llok out for the other female recruits too. Thats the only way to stop it from continuing if we stand up to it, and when your turn comes to make a difference dont let that time pass. Look out for your fellow females. A big reson this still happens is becuase there are many females in the military who want the attetion from all the guys, they live off it and there loose behavior gives the other co-workers the impression..hey these girls are easy. But dont let yourself be easy! Study, get promoted and squash the bastards!

Im in the Air Force but Im only guard so I only have to see the guys once a month. I like working with mostly guys because i find guys to be more relaxed as I find many girls get stressed easily or act a bit catty. However, the guys i work with are all red blooded men that love porn, adjust their crotches at several points in the day, and make countless gay jokes. Not all guys are like this but i find the overwhelming majority of men that I come in contact with are. I say dont let them get to you, even if you confront them, they'll just say you're on your period or something. If the comments really get out of hand take it up with your Air Force Military Equal Opportunity (MEO) Office. Thats what they are there for. Hope that helps. Try to stay positive!

As a female who was in the Navy for many years, I ran into the same thing. I found that many men in the military don't like women in the military and don't treat them with respect.
However, I found that a lot of the way women are treated in the military is their own faults. The majority of women I was stationed with were whiners, cry babies, come up with every excuse in the book why they couldn't lift something or work like the rest of the men. Many times, they were also little sluts that went from one guy to the next and basically gave women a bad name. Often times, they also got pregnant and whined about that. If this sounds like you, you deserve to be treated like that. My advice to you would be to suck it up, do your job, finish your contract, get out and get a man who will take care of you.

Sorry to tell you but disgusting, sexist, racist males are out in the civilian world too. But it's something you can change, if you are up to it.

That situation could exist in any workplace. You could possibly transfer to another unit or duty station. I don't think the whole USAF should be condemmed for one group of mens bad behavior.
