Hopefully our troops won't be there in 10 years. In 2008, a new president will be in office, he(or she) will get us out of there. Bush said as long as he's pres, we'll be in Iraq. Luckily he has less than 18 months left in power.

If I was a mean person I would wish for the troops to come home
so that when the bombings start here maybe some of the idiot trash talkers on this forum would be scared into being patriotic again !! But I'm not a mean person so I will continue to support the war on terror on THEIR soil.

Not likely. It depends on the people in this country.
If the people who feel that the Islamic terrorists are not that big a threat to world peace keep giving them more and more encouragement and a sense of impending victory, the war will only be prolonged. We MUST be united and steadfast in our resolve to rid the world of people who indiscriminately maim and kill innocent men, women and children in the name of their god to promote an agenda of a one world government under Islamic Law.
Face it, we tried everything from UN sanctions to negotiations to diplomacy to just plan ignoring these psychos - and what did we get?
More terrorist attacks - that's what we got.
If the terrorists truly see a united front against their objectives, they will be psychologically defeated. If they continue to see a country that debates a cut and run strategy constantly among themselves, they will be encouraged to continue on with their same tactics of murder and mayhem.
It's our choice which impression we give them.

We may still be there in some form and an occasional American may get whacked there, but the total won't be close to 10,000.

That is still less than 2% of what we lost in Vietnam, a war started by a democrat.

Sadly the answer is yes. I think the number of losses will drop down, but we will still be there.

I hope not. Didn't Vietnam teach us anything about trying to win a guerilla war halfway across the globe?
