Which PETA? People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals? Or People Eating Tasty Animals?
Either way, it's because the Constitution allows people to gather, and share an opinion, and express it.
If you want to go to war with them because you disagree with them, go ahead. It's criminal conduct, but that doesn't appear to matter anymore in the US when it comes to stopping people we don't like.

They have a right to exist unless they are doing something illegal. As far as I know they might have done some civil disobedience, but hardly any criminal activity. I agree they take it too far sometimes, but some people feel the need to protect innocent animals that can't speak for themselves, and I think that's honorable. The unborn, and children can't speak for themselves.
