we pay 3 bucks in gas because it is about controlling oil prices, keeping them at OPEC standards set by our buddies in Saudi Arabia, this is why Saddam had to go, he was one week with the Palestinians cutting off oil to the US then the next fighting Iran and opening the spigot wide, this fluctuation scared what is called BIG OIL (Bush Buddies in texas) and they said "he's gatta go Georgie" and thats why Saddam went. it has nothing to do with gassing Kurds or any of that, please... SO gas prices were artificially inflated a bit, record profits and we sail happily into yet another year in Iraq. It is pretty bad, so we need to stop supporting this nonsense ASAP.

You know where the oil goes as we have had this debate many times, so you know it is not for oil, or control of the oil.

Iraqs oil production has been pretty much constant throughout sanctions and since the war and it is the same multi national companies shipping it to the same European countries (not the USA).

As for it being for profit, it would be a very odd war indeed where people do not make a profit. But to say that the war was started for profit is beyond bizarre when there would be much easier ways for the people who started it to make a few million.

I'm sorry. I think your question is simply anti western rhetoric and not a question at all.

I don't believe it since the cost has not gone down that much. If we wanted the oil it would have been done by now and done in a different way. After destroying Germany and Japan in World War II, the United States proceeded to rebuild both countries, and today they are American allies. Now we are doing the same thing in Afghanistan and Iraq. Yet America never stays to rule that country or their resources..

Yes, I do! Because if oil were the only thing Bush cared about, we'd invade CANADA without firing a shot! Nevertheless, Saddam Hussein was a sponsor of terror, and DID have WMD's whether you want to face it or not. That is why we invaded Iraq, not for oil!

There is only one reason for war: Power.
There are three ways to gain power:
1) Control the land and resources
2) Control the finances
3) Control them both!

This simplifies the situation, but if you study history, you will always see control of land and/or money as the root agenda...every time.

i dont believe that. we had cheap gas and buy most of our oil from south america. i dont really agree with the way everything went down but i dont think we stirred up that peticular beehive just so we could get a little more oil and a few dollars. hard to streach my head around that. but wait a few years and the whole story will be revealed.

Are you really this naive? If it was about oil why didn't we occupy Kuwait after we invaded it. Why didn't we lay claim to their oil? Can you name one oil producing state that would take the US more than 9 minutes to occupy? You're a Bush hater aren't you?

It's about money and power. We never attacked Cuba or North Korea. And their people are living in poverty. Half the world or more lives in poverty. But they don't have oil....

We should ask those that own oil stocks and those that own some stock in war supplies. The answer should lie somewhere in there.
