Regarding the statement in an answer from my last question, "b/c they want to become a world power." They could become a world power today if they wanted to. All they have to do is find a good reason for China, and Russia - their incumbent supporters - to unite and fight against America. So my question is now:

Why doesn't North Korea, and their dictator Kim Jong Il just sign a damm treaty with the USA, and call it all good? Why is there so much pride involved? Why cant the US negotiate according to their standards, or even meet somewhere in the middle? Why do countries fight like little children fighting over a piece of candy?

I understand that Nuclear arms (including short and longrange missles) in North Korea pose a threat to the world. But can't it be seen that Kim Jong Il is trying to pick up some power? Some world freedom? The pride of his country in advancing scientific breakthroughs? Just as Germany, France, S. Korea, Japan, China, etc... and most importantly the USA have done?

Why are the japs tripping like that? They are outright asking North Korea to bomb on them. What are your thoughts?

I am in support of the Israeli's finishing what they have started and to completely remove Hezbollah from the planet, once and for all. Whilst there are some people who will not agree with me, I just wonder why they don't. Answers most welcome from Hezbollah supporters and your reasons for supporting this movement.

I'm an American and am sick of having to defend this country. It is as a racist country as was nazi Germany was. If the jewish community in America wants to support it, they should go there and do so, instead of sitting in the US and lobbying congress.
By the way, I am a veteran, who has feelings for the boys/girls who
have to go to places like Iraq and soon Israel. Stop your ARROGANCE!!!

everyone talks about this HUGE number of troops we have lost during the war on terrorism. but consider this. we have been at war since the end of 2001, going on 5 years now, on TWO fronts, two different countries (we haven't done this since wwII). we have lost a little over 10, 000 troops, in 5 years of the korean war (only 1 country) we lost over 50,000 troops. too many people in this country were spoiled by the 100 day war called the first gulf war. that wasn't a war that was a live fire exercise for all of our new equipment. THIS is a war, and we have suffered less casualties than any previous REAL war.

It is just as easy to have a foolish, simplistic faith in the power of force as to have a similar foolish faith in the power of pacifism.
Answering violence with even more violence does offer a powerful emotional gratification. After the outrage of Sept. 11, 2001, Americans sought — and for a short time got — emotional gratification out of invading Iraq. But we've also paid a heavy price for that.Israel offers another case study. Using airpower and excessive force to crush Hezbollah may feel good, but as a strategy that approach violates every tenet of counterinsurgency warfare. For every 10 guerrillas you kill that way, you risk creating 100, and in the long term the mathematics of that will ruin you.Israel ought to understand that by now. A generation ago, it invaded Lebanon, all but leveling Beirut in the process, trying to teach its enemies a lesson. In the process it ended up radicalizing the Shiites of southern Lebanon and creating Hezbollah, the very group now firing at them.

Do you think they did that only because Lebanon is weak? Is that why they are playing games with Lebanon? So much destruction just for 2 sodiers which are still alive. What about the civilians which died in Lebanon after the attack?
Would Israel dared to have attack another stronger country?

what if another country bagan bomb airports and power supply facilities accidentally killing civilians in the US trying to clean out a terrorist org. here like uh...THE KKK! for example...that be interesting...would you support it? and how could they distinguish a kkk member from an average American? Its just a scenario so dont think im anti American as a matter a fact im a soldier and we had a really hard time ID'ing the enemy overseas we couldnt take chances so yes some innocent people died. But is it worth it? We'd make a huge move forward and it seemed like terrorist doubled. NOw troops are having to stay longer. I was PRO WAR before i went overseas...you guys they are recruiting more terrorist because they actually think we are the terrorist the more innocent people die. I love America I love it enough to struggle hard to try to think of an alternatives. Men die so that we can eliminate terror and some US citizens use it as a political campaign to justify their vote. Its sad.

The Iraqi War is the best thing the Democrats have going for them. The public is slowly tiring of our children dying and the incredibly massive debt that comes therewith. The longer we are in Iraq, the more the military and their families will come to distrust and maybe even despise the Republicans. The longer our children are dying defending Bush’s Iraqi war, the more D’s will be elected. So should the D’s actually be campaigning to “Cut and Run” or “Retreat and Defeat?” And even more problematic, how can they stay "on the right side" of the issue without campaigning to get out!?

In a way, it’s a classical Catch-22. The day we leave Iraq, the D’s lose their best issue. So why not let it drag on for as long as possible, letting Bush, Dick, Condi, and Rummy twist in the wind? This is a highly complex question. What do you think?
