The Iraqi War is the best thing the Democrats have going for them. The public is slowly tiring of our children dying and the incredibly massive debt that comes therewith. The longer we are in Iraq, the more the military and their families will come to distrust and maybe even despise the Republicans. The longer our children are dying defending Bush’s Iraqi war, the more D’s will be elected. So should the D’s actually be campaigning to “Cut and Run” or “Retreat and Defeat?” And even more problematic, how can they stay "on the right side" of the issue without campaigning to get out!?
In a way, it’s a classical Catch-22. The day we leave Iraq, the D’s lose their best issue. So why not let it drag on for as long as possible, letting Bush, Dick, Condi, and Rummy twist in the wind? This is a highly complex question. What do you think?
