The Iraqi War is the best thing the Democrats have going for them. The public is slowly tiring of our children dying and the incredibly massive debt that comes therewith. The longer we are in Iraq, the more the military and their families will come to distrust and maybe even despise the Republicans. The longer our children are dying defending Bush’s Iraqi war, the more D’s will be elected. So should the D’s actually be campaigning to “Cut and Run” or “Retreat and Defeat?” And even more problematic, how can they stay "on the right side" of the issue without campaigning to get out!?

In a way, it’s a classical Catch-22. The day we leave Iraq, the D’s lose their best issue. So why not let it drag on for as long as possible, letting Bush, Dick, Condi, and Rummy twist in the wind? This is a highly complex question. What do you think?

It's too bad that Bush has done nothing but war with his terms. What a shame. Like you said, it is a complex issue, and perhaps the anger comes from not just the war, but all of the secrecy, corruption, and lies from this administration. Although it exists across party lines, the checks and balances have been removed from government. Perhaps we will see some progress after November, when the democrats take some seats and restore balance to the government. Perhaps Bush was wrong in thinking that unilateral is the best way, and maybe he will find his job to be easier with the support of people. We can only hope...ANd the iraq war isn't 'GOOD' for anyone.

okay democrats aside, we hsouldnt just pull out of Iraq, we'd be abandoning a country left in Turmoil, next thing you know a new dictator seizes power gets pissed at the US for the initial attack and we get attacked yet again. we cant leave the innocent people there in a completely rundown country, we have to finish rebuilding it before we can get out. bush screwed us when he brought us in there for no reason, there was no proof of WMDS or that Iraq would use them against us, we had no right going in there in the first place

You may be right, but the cynicism inherent in your question still makes me wince.

Perhaps some Democrats are working so hard to end it because they still have some shred of human decency and/or moral knowledge hidden away within their largely ruinous psyches?

Because this isn't a war it's an occupation and our troops are just sitting around getting shot at.
