Law Enforcement & Police - November 2007

I wanted to know the work schedule of a police officer. What days and hours do you work? And do you have a social life, like go out on the weekends and do other stuff or are you always working? Do you have the choice of arranging your own work schedule or do they give you some crappy *** work schedule? My main question is do you have the weekends off?

I recently wrote my friend a letter in prison and in it I said somethings that I don't know if a gaurd would look at as bad or something not to worry about.

I was writing my friend telling him I was going to take a class in law enforcement next term in college to learn more about law. However I also told him that I didn't want to become a cop because I didn't want to be shot.

Would a gaurd view that as bad or contraband??? I didn't mean anything by it nor did I really think that would be bad, but what I was refering to was the gun use cops have to deal with in their jobs...I was talking about how didn't want to risk being shot at. However now that I look at the letter, I'm worried that it might be taken the wrong way... =/

Would you question it? (I'm just an innocent white girl trying to get her education...) If they did question it, what would they do to me? I hate cops...I don't want another one at my house.

My parents would have a fit.

PLEASE HELP!

Thanks =)

I was just wondering if anyone knew where I could find a website that would tell me what all that stuff means that Police say over the radio means. Like "1032 in progress" or "Code 3" Things like that.

If you were or are a lone woman at night on a rural unlit country road? My wife was in this situation and she continued to drive 8 miles further to an open gas station. The officer wrote on the citation N/D aka (no Deal) full penalty applied.

I find I'm always on guard near police and I never feel at easy. This excludes when you are calling for help. Just wondering because I don't see them as a protection anymore. And with all their powers they just seem to be there to break your rights. Anyone else agree or disagree? Please no angry bashing.

Recently, there's been a rise in rape/homicide/muggings/etc in my city (Philly,PA). I'm very petite for my age (18 y/o, 5'1", barely 100lbs) and I hold a black belt in tkd.

But I'd feel safer if I had an item with me that would help should anything happen. i.e. mace, taser, etc.

What's out there that's effective?

What do police do when they are investigating a crime and they take items for evidence? After the trial is over, do they just keep it, or what?

They do it all the time on the show Jail. Why do they put 2 drunks together if they know they might get into an altercation? Are they stupid or something?

It's my car but I wasn't driving it. Raul, my driver, had a few too many I suspect and (borrowed) the Jag. Unfortunatly he flattened the local metro stop, destroyed 2 trash containers and tore most of the front out of the nearest Burger King. Thank God the Jag only had some scratrches. Since they are all insured and Raul has no license wouldn't it be best to simply ignore the whole sad situation?

I live Georgia, and I received a ticket for 44mph in a 25mph school zone. I honestly did not know I was breaking the law and here's why...

The road is a 4-lane highway. The normal speed limit is 45mph. The route I take, I recently found out goes around the flashing lights on that highway, so I entered the highway after the flashing lights. I told the officer, and he said there were some on the road I came from. Later that day, I drove back to that spot to see if there were flashing lights and the school zone sign was posted but there were no flashing lights or times posted for the school zone. so I thought that I was obeying the posted limit.

There were no children in sight.

Had I known that it was a school zone, I would have slowed down! I feel like I got scammed by the government.

The date on my ticket is in January, and I'm not going to just pay a fine and admit fault to something that I know I did not do wrong. I cannot afford a ticket either.

What should I do?

I was driving at around 1:10 Am On Nov. I had just picked up my friends girlfriend and was bringing her home. I went thru a parking lot that is connected to the condo complex she was at. I noticed a police cruiser on the other side of this parking lot. I proceeded over a few speed bumps (going slower than 5MPH) when he turned his car on and followed me. He ended up stoping me for "having blankets in my car" I asked him whats wrong with that he said he thinks were hideing something. I ask him to search my car his reply was "thats not what im here for". I was written a ticket for being out 10minutes after the legal time (1:00 am) and given a court date.

Was this a legal stop or illegal?

also he wrote the wrong name of the street he put derry rd. When i went back the next day i noticed the street was haverhill st.

should i fight this?

Are you against it or not.

2007-11-13 07:01:30 · 25 answers · asked by Anonymous

this is a serious question.
1. how dark are you allowed to have your front windows and is there a illegal limit on back windows?
2. is it legal for you to get a ticket per window or are you suppose to just get one for the whole car. also we got a ticket for each window and 3 of the tickets were done by one cop and 2 by another that wasn't even the one that pulled us over is that legal porcedure.
please only answers that are sure not looking for opinions..
thanks

I was a passenger in a car with the driver and two other people inside 4 people in all and the driver was stopped for going through a red light.
The driver had a warrant and was arrested - the officer than said we could also join the driver and we were arrested for disorderly conduct - Do they make the laws up to meet there quotas.
