Politicians rally around anything that will buy them votes. Another favorite haunt for politicians is the education system. They paint an ugly picture of public education, JUST so they can tell how they intend to "fix" the problem. THEN, they BECOME the problem.

I know that politicians are good for something... I mean, they certainly draw us to the voting booths... I'm just not sure what exactly they are good for...

The task facing law enforcement these days is overwhelming ,lack of funds, under staffing and new laws that are implemented without additional funding at the local level. If something kicks off within the country they have to respond and be critiqued while at it. The politicians only see the side of issues that look good on paper, or sound good on the news ,in real time it's insufficient.

I would say it hinder's the police. Politicians are politicians. Police job is to over see criminals. And the judges too. Politicians to stick to what they do for America. Making laws to put more money in there pocket.

hinder, the police can only do as directed. Like tying the hands of a boxer and saying perform. They need to support the police more in the common issues like more and better training and equipment for a start.

Politicians play the crime card all the time, because really who wants axe murders running around free. The problem is they pander, and don't follow through with legislation and funding that the police really need.

It can go both ways.

The politicians can "guide" law enforcement to waste their time on petty crap that their voters (read actual persons that vote=wealthy) want taken care of but really mean nothing to the masses.

On the other hand, screaming citizens can get politicians to drop more money when needed to fight crime properly. More people, proper equipment.
