I recently wrote my friend a letter in prison and in it I said somethings that I don't know if a gaurd would look at as bad or something not to worry about.

I was writing my friend telling him I was going to take a class in law enforcement next term in college to learn more about law. However I also told him that I didn't want to become a cop because I didn't want to be shot.

Would a gaurd view that as bad or contraband??? I didn't mean anything by it nor did I really think that would be bad, but what I was refering to was the gun use cops have to deal with in their jobs...I was talking about how didn't want to risk being shot at. However now that I look at the letter, I'm worried that it might be taken the wrong way... =/

Would you question it? (I'm just an innocent white girl trying to get her education...) If they did question it, what would they do to me? I hate cops...I don't want another one at my house.

My parents would have a fit.

PLEASE HELP!

Thanks =)

Chances are, they are not going to do anything about it. I don't even think they'd give it much thought. Its not like you are talking about hiding guns somewhere on the premises so that your friend can go and get them and have a riot at the prison. THEN they might do something about it. My mother is not a guard at a prison, but she does work at one, and has to go through all of the mail. She uses her discretion when going through it, and has to throw out things that she questions or thinks are wrong for the residents to receive. If someone didn't like what you wrote, chances are, they'd just toss out your letter. Also - keep in mind, prison guards are different from cops.

I suspect the guard, and whoever happened to be in the room with him, got a chuckle or two out of your letter and then sent it on to your boyfriend.

You might want to reconsider your selection of a law enforcement class. Since you "hate cops", you won't get much out of the class and your attitude will be very apparent to the other students in the class. Those students will be men and women who have a much more positive attitude to what may well be a career path. Don't expect to make many friends. . .

Well to answer this question to an innocent white girl trying to get an education that hates cops here is a lesson. When someone mugs, assaults, steals, rapes, etc to you make sure when it happens to you dont file a police report because why would you want to talk w/ people you hate?

If that's all you said, your entitled to your opinions and your decisions for your own life. The guard shouldn't consider it a big deal. Screenings of calls / letters / etc usually have the prison policy in mind regarding priviledged information, passing on codes, or anything deemed problematic regarding information pertaining to the facility, outside influence...say caling out hits , etc, or long long ago.....informing of prison breaks, but that's something mostly of the past. Now its mostly opportunist breaks. You rarely see anything like the "escape from alcatraz" themed movies.
Although, I imagine they do notice who you are and how often you write. Mostly for future purposes in case something comes up, trouble happens when they get out, etc. etc.
