What are some of the reasons people get placed into protective custody in prisons? If you're not a gang member and dont want to be in general population with gang members, can you jsut ask to be placed in PC? Or could you just keep to yourself and still stay safe from gangs and other violence?

The officer who pulled me over with Accutrac was sitting approx. 75 feet in front of a "Begin 40mph" sign when he pulled me over a 1/4 mile down the road for doing 51mph in the 25mph zone prior to the 40. Is he able to sit that close to the change in speed signs and if he was using Accutrac is it a viable case that he actually started timing me in the 40mph zone?

I have reasons to believe the ticketing officer (NY - Westchester County) clocked my speed inaccurately. He told me to make my court date and if I did he would "work with me." Does NY law require that the ticketing officer show up in court for my hearing?

I'm a pretty savvy consumer, but unfortunately I still got taken for some money by an online service that I had investigated and thought to be reputable.

I'm tired of my emails and calls not being returned!

What are some different consumer advocacy organizations which deal with people who've gotten taken for money online that I can contact to report this experience and hopefully apply some pressure.

I'm sure this service figures they can ignore me away -- but I'm tired of being screwed over and am determined to pursue this to my satisfaction.

What would you do and why?

There is no wrong answer...I just read this question and thought it to be fascinating. And I want some general opinions on the subject.

I heard you can go to jail for bank fraud for spending it. But I have no idea.

Just wondering if there are any exceptions to the rule. A cop searched my house today without one and I didn't say they could do that, and later charged me with a misdemeanor for what she found (some old pot resin). I don't really want to go into detail but hopefully that is enough info. thanks

A mysterious $16,000 deposit posted to a the bank account of a friend of mine about 2 weeks ago. The money is not hers and she does not know where it came from. We figured the bank would recognize the error and withdraw the money. If the bank doesn't find the error after 3 months or so, what should she do? It would be really nice to keep the money, but not at the cost of going to jail for a felony. I was just curious if anyone knew her legal options because I certainly don't want to give her any bad advice on the matter.

But since you all have a very stressful job that many people can't imagine and deal with, why do most of you hang out with one another after even after work? I know that your peers are dealing with somewhat of the same issues but wouldn't be nice to be with non-law enforcement officers? Just curious from a person who of course isn't in law enforcement but willing to understand appreciate you all for what you do.

If someone were to get a DWI in another state while on vacation, where would they have probation? I mean, would the charges they incurred on vacation be deferred to a court in their hometown or would they have to stand trial and punishment in the state that it happened?

My lawyer was already in the process of trying to have my probabtion terminated so i could join the navy. The arresting officer said that if i pospone the case until after my probabtion is up, it would not violate me. and also to pospone the case until i get my liscence reinstated and it will be thrown out. does any of this make sense? im meeting with my lawyer in a few days, but i'm real worried. i don't want to be violated as that would be absolutly horrible and i'll never get my chance to enlist and do something positive. my only flaw is that i can't find rides to work. anyone?

A guy owns a house and then his girlfriend moves in with him. They live there together for a few years. The house is only in his name, but she lives there full time and gets all her mail there. Not sure if they actually split bills or not, but it's all in his name. They get into a fight and he threatens her. She gets a restraining order against him and he's not allowed in his house by the cops. He says she doesn't live there (not true) and she shows them that she gets mail there. How would this guy go about getting her out of his house or is he screwed?

My son got a ticket at 17 which is causing him a lot of problems. His attorney said that police officers aren't supposed to turn tickets over the state on juveniles. He went to court in our county and did everything he was supposed to do. Now the state has set up a hearing.
