I'm a pretty savvy consumer, but unfortunately I still got taken for some money by an online service that I had investigated and thought to be reputable.

I'm tired of my emails and calls not being returned!

What are some different consumer advocacy organizations which deal with people who've gotten taken for money online that I can contact to report this experience and hopefully apply some pressure.

I'm sure this service figures they can ignore me away -- but I'm tired of being screwed over and am determined to pursue this to my satisfaction.

The Better Business Bureau. Also report it to your District Attorney. You can do this online or over the phone. Write down as much as you know about the business in advance so you have better chances of fixing your situation. And don't forget to write down any reference numbers these agencies give you with regard to your complaint. Good Luck!

Consumer advocacy groups can help you get your money back from a basically decent company that has screwed up in your case. If the company set out to deliberately scam people, though, they're worthless.

Finding out where the scammer is physically located, and sueing them there, is your only recourse - and even that may not work.

Where are you (country) and who and what was the Service?

There are several aproaches you can take depending on the total loss but I need to know the above.

Get thier server IP as well if you can and we will give it to some pesky teenagers to bring the site down if you want.

Report this to your bank. Many times they can investigate and if it's found to be fraudulent they can reverse the charges. Good Luck!

>Contact a police agency in the area where they are located and explain the problem to them...I've done that twice and it has worked. Both times were EBay scammers.<
