ok so what if someone donated their hair to locks of love and then they went and committed a crime. Couldn't the receiver of the donated hair get convicted through DNA testing?

Interesting question. They get DNA off of hair follicles at the root of hair which has usually fallen out or been pulled out. These follicles have cells with DNA in them. Hair donated to Locks of Love is usually cut off and doen't have follicles. It is also extensively washed so any contaminating DNA on the surface would probably be removed.

DNA is only found in the root of a hair, locks donated to locks of love are usually cut, not pulled right out of the scalp.

No.

DNA is only recoverable from the hair follicle which is embedded in the scalp. Hair strands contain no DNA. Hair donated for locks of love is cut and therefore has no follicle attached.

Not very likely. The receiver of the hair receives a wig. It does not alter the DNA of the recipient.

Of course not. They could prove it was a wig and also when they purchased the wig. They could become a suspect but could be easily eliminated.

Just because there is somebody's DNA somewhere it doesn't imply a felony.
