As anyone else, they are entitled to take a break. Most police prefer not to go into a regular restaurant and generally go to coffee shops, which usually means a donut shop. For those who, through ignorance, make note of the fact that they are in donut shops means they are eating donuts, I suggest you look a bit more carefully. You will usually see that the officer may be drinking coffee, but quite likely is drinking green tea, tea, juice, or bottled water. You will more often than not see them eating a more healthy muffin rather than sweet donuts. This is especially true of younger officers who are more into physical fitness than some of the dipsticks who smoke, drink too much, smoke pot, and eat frosted donuts while they are in the coffee shop making comments about the officer there. They can most often be seen eating Big Macs every day. Cheers!!

Yeah, A Philadelphia cop was killed recently when he was shot in the face while entering a Dunkin Donuts to buy a cop of coffee. The animal fled, but came back and stole his gun. Police Officer Charles Cassidy was 54 with three young kids.
So yeah, cops, just like everyone else, of every profession out there, patronize Dunkin Donuts. Any other dumb questions?

The probably prefer to visit the ones that give them "complimentary snacks." If I ran a 7-11 in a bad neighborhood, I would certainly give the officers anything they wanted, just to deter would-be robbers.
One time I was in a Jack-in-Box that even had a table that said "reserved for police officers" on it!

Every department has a policy concerning the "eating of donuts". As long as they don't get chocolate under their nails or on their uniform, they are allowed to eat as many as they can. *sarcasm*
Where have I heard the most complaints about stereotyping? Oh, I know! Here on LE&P.

They still do. I'm not sure what the relationship is between donuts and cops. I was watching COPS the other day and some cop said he was going to the donut shop but he had to answer a call or something... So, obviously it's like a given, cops and donuts go togather, even when they're on TV.

This is just another stereotype. Though I'm sure some cops eat donuts that doesn't mean all cops eat donuts. That would be like me saying all Americans believe in God. U.S. is suppose to be a Godly nation. Just because there is a stereotype in place doesn't mean it's true.

good question! i've got continually questioned that myself! i think of that's because of fact donuts are rapid to consume and don't take long to be served. in spite of everything, cops are very busy and frequently in a rush. that's my wager.
