I am on unsupervised probation for 1 year in Tennesse for a misdeamenor shoplifting charge. I met with my Probation officer for the first time 10 days ago, and he gave me a list of rules to follow, including NO drinking, NO drugs, cannot possess alcohol, may be drug tested, and other things. He never actually told me he will drug test me, but he did say I could not drink or do drugs.
My charge has nothing to do with Drugs or Alcohol, so it makes no sense to be tested.
Is he telling me this to scare me, or is it a good chance he will drug test me for no reason next time I see him? (5 days from now)
I could not have passed a drug test when I first saw him (Weed) And still can't (have stopped 10 days ago)
So basically,
Will they drug test me?
If they do and I fail, will I go to jail?

My brother friend went to an interview for hire They told him that he was only going to get $300 a week while in the academy so he turned down the job bc were he works now he is making way more.

Is that true you only make $300 a week (after taxes), not that i mind but I thought you get $25,100 in the academy. If you that much a week for 6 months is only $7200. For me its better then nothing but I thought I was getting more.

My 20 year old son received a mip ticket while trying to explain to the officer why his friends were starting a commotion outside of a private residence.
He had a few beers with his father earlier and I dropped him of at his friends house. when an officer arrived at the scene, he smelled beer and gave my son a ticket. If we fight this, will my husband get a ticket for giving our son a beer?

This has been bugging me since I was a kid. I mean there are no dirt tracks or hills around, the most I can see them do is go from street to sidewalk to chase someone on foot.

I know that we can turn right on a red light if we are sure no cars are coming our way.

However, do we need to make a complete standstill stop before turning -- since there's no STOP sign (when I am sure from afar that no car is approaching, and I just slowed down to double check).

Making a complete stop is what my friend keeps asking me to do, but it seems ridiculous when I'm 100% sure there's no cars and there is no STOP sign to begin with.

So, can I just slow down instead of stop?

recently recieved a regular DUI in phoenix, AZ but I am from out of state, and am not back in Ohio. I was advised by a police acquaintance in phoenix that if i do not wish to deal with it, and if I do NOTHING about it, my drivers license in Arizona only will be suspended and I will have a warrant in Maricopa Cty (where Phoenix is), but that there would be no extradition or anyway it would follow me back to Ohio. Nothing would be on my record and I could more or less escape it all by not returning to that county for a while.
All I would need to do is avoid going back to Phoenix for a few years.

I know this is not the correct way to handle this, but can anyone with a legal background confirm this is a possible approach to avoid the dui being on my record and having to do fine/jail/classes for it? I was told as long as the warrant is out , there is no conviction - therefore nothing on my record in Ohio and also my drivers license in Ohio will not be effected.
True?

Despite the obsession of many big-name Democrat politicians (the Clintons, Ted Kennedy, Chuck Schumer, Dianne Feinstein, Frank Lautenberg, Chris Dodd, etc. etc.) to further limit or do away with lawful privately held firearms, nearly all the states have passed concealed carry legislation in recent years, and now the states are passing "castle doctrine" legislation that protects lawful owners from prosecution and civil suits for defending themselves with lethal force against unlawful intruders. Can that happen without the agreement of many citizens who vote Democrat?

Last night while we were away from home, the security alarm went off in one room of our home. The alarm company said motion was detected in a room - but not at the doors, windows etc. When we returned this morning, nothing was disturbed and there was no evidence anyone had been in the room or anyplace else in the house. Does anyone out there have any ideas what could have caused this? I am a little spooked and would like to know if anyone else has had a similar experience. Any professionals out there with any ideas? Please no jokes about ghosts etc. - serious answers only. Thanks!

If all levels of law enforcement aggressively enforced Immigration Laws of the U.S. instead of leaving it to the Boarder Patrol and Immigration Service, our boarders would be a lot more secure. We would not be paying millions or billions of dollars for medical and social services for Illegal Aliens who are in fact breaking our Laws by entering the country illegally. There may even be a reduction in Homeland Security costs.

This is the only group of criminals that get a free pass from state and local police.

No other country I'm aware of grants citizenship as a birthright if at least one parent is not a citizen of that country. This should also be the law of our land.

I think it is time for all who agree to start writing our Congressional Representatives to express our views. I have. Internet postings will never get their attention but if they get enough constituent mail, they may give the problem some importance.

Its the 4th of July and my boyfriend has illegal fireworks. Well the city has a ZERO TOLERANCE ordinance. He lite FIRECRACKERS (not M80's or anything super dangerous) Someone on the block called the police and complained. The police came out in an unmarked car and came walking up the street. He had a couple small credit card size packs in his hand with the lighter. Well, they confiscated them and cuffed him. Escorted him to the car and never read him his miranda rights. They did question him but not at the station. Were his rights violated? I checked the web for info and it said they didnt have to read his miranda rights only if they further interrogated him and he was detained. Any thoughts?

Would you like to take it up with him?" He said no, I'm just skating, I come here every Wed. night, the only night thats kids night & I'm looking at the ground not at the kids" When I called my dad over, he left. What would you have done & what should I further do? Inform the owners? It's out of my dads jurersdiction. He gave us all the creeps and other people I heard talking about him. Why would he come ONLY on kids night?Did I do it right, What would u do?

I was shopping at kohls with a friend, and she stole a $20 ring. We were looking at the rack of rings, trying them on, and goofing around. I didnt see any that I wanted to purchase, but I did see one that she would love. I handed her the box, and continued shopping. She hed told me before about how she shoplifts with her brother, but I didnt think anything of it. She said that we should shoplift for fun, but I told her that I wasnt going to do it. She was making fun shoplifting in general, so I thought that she was joking about doing it. I wasnt aware that she had taken the ring that I had handed her, and I was totally shocked when we were stopped by LP. All my stuff was gone through, and they let me go. She was arrested, but they said that I was free to go. My question is, can I get into trouble for being there with her, even though I didnt know that she was doing? Like a wrong place, worng time kind of thing.
