My brother friend went to an interview for hire They told him that he was only going to get $300 a week while in the academy so he turned down the job bc were he works now he is making way more.

Is that true you only make $300 a week (after taxes), not that i mind but I thought you get $25,100 in the academy. If you that much a week for 6 months is only $7200. For me its better then nothing but I thought I was getting more.

He actually passed everything he just turned it down bc he make more money where he is at now. He needs to make a living he said and cant take a pay cut like that.
I say you in the academy, whats so dangerous about it? I dont think there going to pay you alot for going to school, then you make the money for getting out and doing the job.

I don't know if the $300 per week is true or not, however it is VERY short sighted to look only at the amount he would earn during the training. If he wants to be a police officer, he needs to go through the academy somewhere. Sounds like he failed the "how bad do you want to be a police officer test"

NYPD is the biggest joke for new cops. Their pay is so horrible and why would anyone waste their time. Pride is one thing but being a cop and broke off your *** is another.
