If all levels of law enforcement aggressively enforced Immigration Laws of the U.S. instead of leaving it to the Boarder Patrol and Immigration Service, our boarders would be a lot more secure. We would not be paying millions or billions of dollars for medical and social services for Illegal Aliens who are in fact breaking our Laws by entering the country illegally. There may even be a reduction in Homeland Security costs.

This is the only group of criminals that get a free pass from state and local police.

No other country I'm aware of grants citizenship as a birthright if at least one parent is not a citizen of that country. This should also be the law of our land.

I think it is time for all who agree to start writing our Congressional Representatives to express our views. I have. Internet postings will never get their attention but if they get enough constituent mail, they may give the problem some importance.

Well, Dan, different levels of law enforcement perform different tasks.

Now, if a police officer working the streets and finds an illegal alien, then they are taken in and the proper action ensues. Street police perform vital functions including drug and traffic enforcement. They simply cannot go out and look for illegal aliens.

The Immigration Police and Border Patrol are doing all they can do with the laws they have to work with. It's not easy.

I understand your frustration, however.

money is the main obstacle, if they arrest then they have to temporarily house and feed them until the immigration service takes custody, then the immigration service will take their time about coming to take custody, house and feed them until they either sign for voluntary departure or receive a deportation court date, which could take months. as it is now the immigration service contracts with county governments to house and feed their detainees, in the county jails, because the immigration has no place to put the the illegals they catch on raids and other types of operations, if the federal gov would put about a couple billion dollars and do what is called expedited deportation, work 24 /7 on this problem it would be greatly reduced in about one year and the people thinking about coming over illegally would be a little more discouraged if they felt that all u.s law enforcement would on the look out for them. but anyway it must the higher-ups in gov that for some selfish reason do not want to enforce the immigration laws, they will argue that it would put a strain on the foreign country where they are from, seems like they worry more about the other countries than ours.

Republicans have had six years to make a effort to fix our problems, they have done nothing. Republicans stopped the 100,000 new cops program started by Clinton and Republicans sent 130,000 troops to Iraq. We do not currently have enough border police. Republicans want more illegals not less. They want to drive down the standard of living for all Americans by flooding the labor numbers with those they can exploit. I think law breakers should go to jail or be deported, Republicans think law breakers should be given a pardon like Scooter Libby. They also want to Pardon all 12 million law breakers that came to this country by breaking our laws.

People all across the US have been contacting their elected officials about border security, for years. It seems Congressmen and the President are paying more attention to special interests, those groups who donate to campaigns and who can afford to pay lobbyists.
A lot of new Representatives were elected in 2006 because they said they would get the borders secured. Promises. Promises.

Because the majority of our government is a joke in terms of illegal immigration.
