Law Enforcement & Police - July 2007

I got arrested whilst on a one mile drive to see my wife ( she had no money for her lunch and it was 5:45 am) for being drunk in charge of a car.
I hold my hands up to having a drink and being over the limit for the road side test, but only just, and must wait for the blood test to tell the truth, so please do not judge me too harshly just yet.

So, if you will, the story is this ...

I change lanes without indicating my intention, but all lights are green and no harm could be done.

A car follows me and as I try to turn around (to see if they are following me), they cut me of and shout something unheard at me, the driver was in civilian clothes and I speed of thinking I may be under attack.

I tried to turn around again 20 yards later at which time the car still following me blocks me in and a man jumps out and takes my key's.

At this point it is clear they are policemen and I accept my fate.

I am asked to sit in their car, which I do, and then I try to use my mobil

A lot of politicians are saying that there is a very high chance we will be attacked soon, including Bush Aides and ex-republicans. Thom Hartmann said that if Al Qaeda doesn't attack in the near future, an attacked will be fabricated, and others warn that another attack will scare Americans into allowing a police state where our leaders can rule with Martial Law. Do you think it is possible that this will be the future of America?

The survey released today notes that there is a giant gap between whites and black and hispanic prisoners. In some cases the number of black inmates is 5 times the number of whites while hispanics are jailed at almost twice the number as whites. The numbers are there, but does that mean there is a bias among law makers, police, and judges? Is it a sort of rite of passage for young blacks and hispanics to go to jail, or commit crimes (see Goodfellas)? Your insightful thoughts and comments are welcome.

I thought a full stop was just momentary but Lynnwood seems to have a 3 second rule as the traffic camera shoots a picture when you get to the intersection then another one 3 seconds later and if you moved you are deemed to have not made a full stop. I cannot find this in the traffic law however. I also wonder if this is enforced on bus drivers and police who seem to make tne same short stop ( less than full second ) as most drivers do.

Dont you think that punishing one person (eg:a killer) by death is just some kind of revenge which is not what a state should do?

Do they really have such a difficult time understanding the larger issue which is that the "War on drugs" is a failure. Prohibition is not working and it has never worked at any time in history. This is not to say that drugs are not interdicted and criminals are not jailed, but rather that these efforts have not reduced drug supplies or drug dependence in the country.

Neighbor has an easement for getting in and out of his own property and is exclusive to that only. I'm tired of dodging the mail box on my own property, and want it removed. I asked nicely several times to relocate the mailbox. I would have just run it over by now but don't know what is the proper way to handle it. I'm thinking of sending out a bill for $100.00 per month for rental of the space the mailbox is on, which is a bargain compared to what a private mail center would charge for a box as big

I am pursuing a career in law enforcement and am in college. My goal would be to one day be in the FBI or DEA, but I want a job as a police officer first. I know i have to take lie detector test and that worries me. In high school I used to steal (more than 1 or 2 things), smoke pot (more than 1 or 2 times), do criminal damage (more than 1 or 2 times) and drink underage. I stopped the stealing and smoking around 11th grade, but the underage drinking continued until i was 21. I also never had a great work history. I've straightened my life out alot since high school. I have always had good grades, leadship, sports, etc. my whole life, though. I just did some stupid **** on the side for a while. Will these things cost me a job in most police depts and eventually the FBI/DEA, or will they take into consideration that I was young and everybod does stupid **** in high school?

Celebrities admit to past drug use all the time on TV, some even admit they sold drugs at one time in their life. Nothing ever seems to happen to them legally. But if you were to admit to something like murder or arson in a similar forum you'd probably be arrested and prosecuted. At the very least the police would launch an investigation.

I'm not really bothered by that disparity. But it does seem odd that in a country supposedly in the middle of a war on drugs, people can be so free to admit they flaunt the law. Logic would seem to dictate that either it's a serious criminal offense or it isn't. As it is, it seems like it's serious if you get caught doing it today, but if you do it today and admit to it next week, no one cares.

Why is that?

When exactly do you get banned?
I have got 9 points on my licence and have been caught again ( silly me!!) I know I will get anther 3 points so that is me upto my 12 points. So do I get banned then or if I get caught again and get another 3 points?

I would like to hear others' opinions before I take my next steps. My ex, broken up 5 mths ago, decided to contact me again through stalkish ways. He called twice from an "Unknown" number, not talking when I would repeatedly say hello, just breathing (although I could find out the no. through my online account, thus verifying it was him). He proceeded to send me a text saying that he loves and misses me. He realized that I wasn't going to respond back, he decided to post my number on a website under erotic services. Received a couple of calls, I was able to get the website to take down the post, the site gave me the IP, email and other info in regards to the post. The IP pretty much confirms it was him (I don't known anyone else from that area). However, I would have to contact the ISP in order to verify the actual address.

Should I: 1) contact him now, tell him that I'm willing to not charges if he stops, 2) wait to see if he would try this again, then press charges.

Ok, its sounds simple but this month my parents decided to move so they been in the process of looking for an apt. they found one place paid $120 in applictaion fess, and were told that we weren't going to be accepted because their son, me 22 had a felony. Now I've never been in jail, and I haven't done anything serious other then not paying some traffic tickets maybe two....anyso those wouldn't be felonies, all I'm asking is can I have one and not know it, they said we can have the application fee since I have a felony, this is insane, are they just stiffing us for the money, which isn't alot, but I'll be damn if they are just lying to keep it...

I have no criminal record, never struck another person in my life. I'm 39 and am a compasionate, caring person. Last night I stopped in at the super market about 10 PM. As I stood in line, I noticed a very old homess man who had three items in his hand. One was a small package of cooked ribs. He placed the cooked ribs in his hand as he pulled some money from his pocket to count it. He then looked at his items again, looked disapointed and had to place the ribs back. (he did not have enough $)

Fast fowarding, I handed the man $20 asnd told him to go get his ribs. The man was so trhankful he had tears in his eyes. Literally. As i left the store, some idiot approached me and got in my face and started yelling at me for helping "all these bums out who ruin his neighborhood." As he screamed at me, he spat in my face from his yelling. He then told me to get the "F" out f his neighborhood. Before I could catch myself I popped him in the mouth. Now he is pressing charges. What should I do?
