If you commit an offence that would give you 3 points by way of the issue of a ticket then you will have to be interviewed about the offence and then sent to Court instead of being issued the ticket.
The Courts would then decide if you will be banned or not based on the evidence they are presented with.
I would assume that you have already been given a summons to court and if so, you can probably wave goodbye to your licence.

A totting-up ban (collecting points as you seem to be doing till you reach 12) is different from other driving bans in that while there is a mandatory minimum ban period (of 6 months), this can be 3 months or even nothing (it's discretionary - if you can plead your case convincingly).
Points continue coming off as per normal in the meantime (3 yrs from date of offence in each case)

Normally you get banned when you reach 12 points. Although in some very exceptional cases there have been incidents where courts have not disqualified at 12, but these are very rare and few and far between

I believe that as soon as you hit 12 points you're banned. Is there a chance that some of the earlier points are spent?

You wil be banned. Your points I think start from scratch. that's the good news. the bad news is that after a ban your insurance will hit the roof.

When you reach twelve points. This means that your offence must be dealt with at court and the likelihood is that you will recieve a disqualification. The court can in certain circumstances give you three points and not disqualify you. Obviously you will have to have a very good reason for them not to disqualify you.
