A lot of politicians are saying that there is a very high chance we will be attacked soon, including Bush Aides and ex-republicans. Thom Hartmann said that if Al Qaeda doesn't attack in the near future, an attacked will be fabricated, and others warn that another attack will scare Americans into allowing a police state where our leaders can rule with Martial Law. Do you think it is possible that this will be the future of America?

I know government leaders don't obey the Constiution all the time (heard what Bush called it?). I'm talking about beyond breaking a few laws here and there, more like if the United States will ever become a dictatorship like Saddam's Iraq, built upon fear of terrorist attacks, whether they come from Al Qaeda or from within this government as a self-inflicted wound. I wonder if you think it's possible.

It is not unlikely. Bush is considering exploding a small nuclear bomb on an American city and blaming it on terrorists so he can declare martial law, maintain power, and set himself up as a dictator.

Seems a bit silly now as Bush is on his way out. If they ever had a notion to do such a thing, it would have been done some time ago. When you really think something through and it doesn't make sense, it is probably because the thing is false.
Of course, we all know that no such idea has crossed the minds of anyone but conspiracy theorists.
It is strange indeed how people complain about the strategy of taking the war with terrorists to the middle-east, and fabricate looming evil intentions to account for the absence of attacks in the U.S.

If it's an Al Qaeda attack, I'm thinking no. It's not much of a pattern, but, both WTC attacks were early in a new Presidents term, and the recent attacks in England were, likewise, right after Blair stepped down.
Thanks to the 'spoils system' you can count on America's government being a little off balance after a new president takes office, and, it sends a message that the democratic process, itself - exemplified by the peaceful transition of power at the top - is futile when defending against them.

Bush could care less about other Republicans, the Constitution or the peoples will.
The Iraq Parliament will be on vacation in August. Guess where our troops will be?
And don't forget the two recent executive orders declaring the Pres King(usurping congress) in case of "emergency". The 2nd one gives them the right to confiscate property of-yes-US citizens in the name of terrorism.

It's possible if we complete the troop withdrsw in Iraq I'd say yes.
They will fight us here or there, people have lost the historical habits of the Middle Eastern area and are playing politics and that will cost the West including the USA to have bombings for ignoring and politizing the problem.

We HAVE been attacked, you just don't know it because Big Brother doesn't want you to. Nothing nearly as spectacular as 9/11 but it has happened. As for martial law, we are well on our way to that- alot farther down that road than most realize.Read the "Patriot Act" sometime.

You cannot believe everything you hear/read. If there is an attack then their is, be prepared in your homes as best you can, other than that, I am not going to spend the next year and a half worrying about it.
Anything is possible, live each day to the fullest, and stop living in fear!

No. I think the terrorists would prefer to weaken America, by waiting until there is a female democrat in the white house, before attacking.
The last thing they want to do is to reinforce to the American people that there is a very real threat out there.
It would be bad for them.

One of the problems is, the fear has been so over-hyped that I believe a lot of Americans have become numb to the realities of a new threat.
