Law Enforcement & Police - April 2007

[Selected]: All categories Politics & Government Law Enforcement & Police

I just read an article in this month's " Reader's Digest " that sleepy drivers are just as dangerous as drunk drivers. If that's the case, then why don't you hear law enforcement officials addressing this issue in the same way they do drunk driving? Why is there so much emphasis placed on one offense and not the other. This sort of thing is one of my major beefs with the police. Speeding is another problem that the cops almost seem to just ignore anymore. They act as though speeding isn't dangerous and doesn't require their attention. What's up with that? Why aren't they more consistent in the way they handle these things?

s, would you wait 10 months and 320 dead kids, or would you let 1920 kids die in a 5 year term and say its a fair price to pay (as long as its not your kid)?

Ok my roomate got her car towed yesterday for parking too close to a fire hydrant. I called her to see how it was going and yesterday the Police Dept. said all she had to do was pay the fine at the station, they'd give her a slip to take to the towing yard and she'd have to pay towing fees and daily storage fees to get her car out.

Well now she called and told me she has to wait till 2:30 for a call from Sacramento DMV?? I tried to get the whole story to see if I could help her out but shes so annoyed and upset I couldn't get it out of her. Anyone have any clue as to what the heck she is talking about??

My 14 year old daughter was caught shoplifting with 2 other friends last night. The police came and hand cuffed them and took them to the police station. They were offered a program for first time offense and would not be charged this time. My question is, what further punishment should I do??

Americans have the right to bear arms, while the reason for this constiutional right was to allow its citizens to protect themselves from others it was also to protect us from the newly established federal government. Unfortunately this right like any right can be abused, anyone who can legally purchase a firearm can and use it for whatever they wish. This of course can lead to tragedy, but it can also save lives. One example of this is at Pearl High School in Miss, the assistant principal retrieved his legally owned .45 Colt from his car and cut short the plans of student to murder more of his fellow classmates after he had already murdered 2 students and wounded more At a dance hall in Penn, a student killed 1 teacher and wounded 2 others before the hall's owner halted the students killing spree with his own legal firearm. So you can see like all rights we have they can be abused. But I don't see calls to brand alcohol illegal, or fast food or even smoking, and they kill more

I look at the most wanted list in the post office and like a lot of people on there were Latino. But I don't understand because I know all other races do more crimes and worse ones than Latinos so how come Latinos were on the list? Who makes up the list? People who don't like Hispanics? Are they trying to make us look bad?

We have very limited parking in the little office complex where I work. We are located directly adjacent to a courthouse, and police officers often park in our spots, forcing employees to pay for parking elsewhere. The parking area is clearly marked as private parking, not for the courthourse, violators to be towed at the car owner's expense. We've often had other cars towed, but don't know what to do about the police cars. They're not above the law, are they?

Is it b/c of prostitute soliciting? or is it mandatory even if it was with someone he knew? Dont tell me to ask him b/c I cant he is my cousin's boyfriend, and all along I just didnt believe the sorry excuse he gave her for his arrest. Please any legal explanation from professionals or personal experience will be greatly appreciated. By the way the arrest was in Broward County in the State of Fl. Thanks much!

When the smoking ban starts in England on 2nd July I know that it will be illegal to smoke in public places, bars, resturants etc... Does that apply to open places like theme parks, bus stops and even walking down the street.

Here in Wales it started on 2nd April, even though I'm a non-smoker I'm confused about it.
