I crash to a parked car yesterday. I left a note there and I did go back to the scene 3 times to check the note was still there and I took serveral pictures of the damage. But until now, the owner didn't call me. What can I do ? Should I get a police report or contact my insurance company?

Contact the Police, and have them meet you back at the scene. A report will be made, and then you can contact your insurance company.

Yes, make a police report anyway and contact your insurance company. The other party may have already done so, and your failure to follow through could get you in big legal trouble. They could be planning a lawsuit while you sit around doing nothing, and your failure to report could clinch their case for them by establishing bad faith on your part.

By the way, there are more surveillance cameras around than you can even begin to imagine. Even if some prankster removed your note, the owner of the damaged car can probably find out who did it through the police. Hit and run is a serious offense.

I have worked for insurance companies for over 20 years. I would not bother with a police report now. You should turn in a claim with your insurance company right away, giving them all the info you have on the car you hit. This will establish proof that it was NOT a hit and run. Since the car was unoccupied, a major lawsuit is not an issue. Most lawsuits are filed when people are injured, and the car you hit was unoccupied.

You should have called your insurance company yesterday. Maybe the second party hasn't called you because they are uninsured or have outstanding warrants out on them, or the car could be stolen. Call your insurance carrier right now & go from there. It helps to have the license plate number, make & color of car, etc. They can advise you as to whether you'll have to file a police report. If it was on private property, chances are, the police won't handle it.

I would contact the insurance and report it, then they can't claim you did a hit and run. That way it he ever does bother to contact you, you can just refer him to your insurance company.

If you're not worried about fixing your own car then forget about it.

If they intend on calling you, they will.
