Don't waste you money on classes. The agency that hires you will pay for all of your training.

If you want to get started in this line of work then start filling out applications. This profession is competitive to get hired for and stressful to stay in if you make it.

Also, find an agency you are interested in working for and request to do a sit-a-long so you can ask questions, observe the working environment, and make sure this is something you CAN and WANT to do.

You will have to forgive me as I do not live in NJ or anywhere along the east coast but I will tell you how it works in KS. Our State agency provides its own training to the applicants. Just go through the basic hiring process and you are set. Of course around here you have to have an agency sponser you because of sensative information and no angecy is going to put their neck on the line for jo citizen who may misabuse the information.

My hat is off to you. Disptachers are a different breed and I know I could not do it very long. I like working the road.

I definitely agree with JT!!

The process is pretty much the same here in Alabama.

Contact the New Jersey State Police, Emergency Management Section, in addition to using the below weblink for the State of New Jersey to answer more questions and obtain the requirements.

Best wishes.
