Get him an attorney.

And keep your mind open to the possibility that he may have sold pot more than twice.

Arrested twice? Or arrested once but sold twice?

A lot depends on where you live. You don't seem to familiar with your state and local laws concerning this, so get a lawyer! If you live near a university, contact their substance abuse department and sometimes they know good, reasonable lawyers. If you live near Uconn send me a message and I can give you a name.

Some basics, though. If he was selling on or close enough to a school zone, he's going to be in deeper trouble. Bet on him getting some heavy probation and community service time if not some time locked up. A decent lawyer should be able to get him out of jail time assuming this is the kid's first arrest for selling.

The amount may also play into the consqequences.

Here's my best advice to you as a parent. Let him get in trouble. Let him suffer the consequences. He isn't going to learn anything if you hustle out and hire some cheap lawyer to "get him out of trouble" other than that "mommy/daddy will bail me out when I get busted." The consqeuences shouldn't be too life alteringly severe since this is his first time, but it should be scary enough to help set him straight.

If this was his first time getting caught selling it, depending on how much he got caught with on him he will most likely get a couple years probation, and maybe some community service, but he can get up to five years jail time for selling drugs. When he goes to court make sure your there, so if he has to serve some kind of time try discussing with the court the option of being put on house arrest, or in a halfway house(which isnt as bad as jail). Really though house arrest is a great option because he can work, go to school, etc as long as the officer in charge of him knows his hours, or he gets permission first, but if its his first offense, and it was only pot, and not too much of it that he got caught with then chances are he will get a min of 2yrs probation(up to five), and some community service. I would suggest if he only gets probation for him to stay away from the drugs if he dont want to get locked up because the first even hint of it in his system, or on him he will be locked up. I have had three different friends who have had drug charges, two of them being more serious then just pot, and they got off with probation, so they usually go easy on first offenses. Just make sure you bring up house arrest as an option if you think he may get more then just probation.

Unfortuantely, the chances of him doing prison time are good. Most drug related cases are just for possession. Which can be pleaed out to avoid jail time. If he got caught dealing and distributing, that is a whole different ball game. He is looking at a felony. As for a lawyer, Instead of a cheap one, you might be better off asking the court to provide you one. Best of luck to you and your son.

The state will assign him a lawyer for free. If he is convicted, I think he will serve 6 months to a year or just get probation. You can also call Legal Aid. I've been in your shoes. Just pray and know that everything happens for a reason. Hopefully, your son will learn his lesson. He might need a new environment and friends. If you don't get a hold of him now. You will lose him to the game (streets). Good Luck.

well, it depends how old he is, if he is over 18 and has a clean record it is less then one percent of 100 for seeing jail time, hell get probation and community service, but in the end hell have a dirty record, if this is the first time in trouble, ask ur lawyer about ILC classes. it means he goes to Interventions insted of being convicted, but good luck

He is in trouble now. He broke the law, he will have to be punished.

Its time he has to answer for his actions and not have his parents buy his way out of trouble.

Get him out of trouble? Why? He was selling dope. Will he do prison time? Doubt it. But if I were you I'd let him sweat for a time.

I don't think he will go to jail, just get a good lawyer, tell the judge that he will submit to drug testing, and rehab and he should be fine. Good luck.

If I were the Judge i'd lock him up and throw away the key. Especially if he was selling to kids.
